So Fallout 76 is a Battle Royale Now

It also goes free-to-play (for a limited time, but still).

If enough freemium whales join and spend cash in Atomic Shop they might change it permamently.

At this rate Fallout 5 is going to be Anthem but the crappy flying mech suits are Power Armor. But even that would be experimental since it's obviously going to be a reskin of Elder Scrolls 6 which will be in turn a dumbed down Skyrim.

Jesus what the hell happened to Bethesda, Bioware and gaming in general. People joke here that Fallout is dead, long live Fallout but the gaming industry as a whole is dead in my eyes.

You're being way too melodramatic, If you only focus on the stains of the industry you're going to have a pretty dirtied perspective. Plenty of other studios pumping out solid titles regardless of niche. Paradox, CDPR, Sega + Creative Assembly, et al. Even Arkane, ID, and Machine Games under the thumb of Bethesda's bug-eyed board members are doing ok to well enough.

Nah, he is pretty close to the mark. Cyberpunk has Neo from the Matrix in it. Paradox are DLC pushing cocksuckers at this point. Sega does a little good with a lot of shit. Arkane and ID make FPS games that fail to live up to the games I played two decades ago...Thief 2 is better than Dishonored. Prey is not as good as Prey. Doom 4 is not as good as...you get the point.

I used to think so.

There's not a single shred of actual gameplay in that trailer. E3 should be called 'catfishing' at this point.

At least Bethesda used actual game footage for their reveal trailer for F4. At least.

What I infer from the trailer, is an island deathmatch arena where respawning is explained away in the fiction using time warps; as a training aid for assassins.

What I can guess from the trailer is that maybe its story [not gameplay] runs similar to Valve's Portal.

What I found oddly apt about it was that the older of the two wisely sees it as a prison, while the younger naively sees it as a power fantasy. This would seem to be a ploy to attract two demographics at once... and we know how that can [adversely] affect a design.

[My guess]: Those wanting to escape a prison will have an easy time of it, while those wanting to dominate will not have much get in their way by way of restrictions.... because adding more of one style is to the detriment of the other—so it will be balanced down the middle.

I have no interest in this game, and I'd have bought an Arkane title on name alone before they were assimilated into Zenimax.

I personally can't draw conclusions from that alone... I couldnt even do the same with F76 with its previous E3 reveal (of which I was lukewarm on from the get-go). Juxtapose that with the reception CP2077 had (on this forum alone) with just a trailer.
