Some help installing Fallout 2 Mod

First time out of the vault
Hi, I'm new to the scene and wanted to give a shot at a few mods before my first play through. Improved Vertibird Mod (under Vehicle Mods), caught my eye as something useful but there don't appear to be any instructions on how to install it. My google-fu brought nothing up either. How do I patch the game with it (I am assuming its an improvement over Improved Vertibird 1.4)?

Extract all files into the Fo2/Data/ folder. Then go to Fo2/Data/Data/ and make the proto folder read-only. That's it.

Keep in mind, Fallout 2 mods usually aren't compatible with each other and *usually* require a new game. Loading an existing savegame can be buggy or not work at all.

The Proto folder is in Fallout2/Data, not Fallout2/Data/Data. But yes, make the whole folder and sub-items read only.

If you haven't tried Killap's Restoration Project yet, I highly suggest you do. Or at the very least his unofficial patch, which is the most complete patch I've ever seen. There are thousands of bugs left in the game from the official Black Isle patches, but Killap and his team has pretty much fixed them all. You might want to go for only the patch when it's your first playthrough, and try the RP on subsequent ones.

And if you like combat, you can try my mod. It mostly improves things that are bugged, useless or unviable in the unmodded game, such as throwing weapons, laser weapons, AP ammo and melee weaponry. It even has an installer!
