Some tips and tricks that would make your game much easier in Fot

Puncher

First time out of the vault
Ok after experiencing game with all kind of builds i came to conclusion that gunner and melee are the most usefull.People will wonder why i say melee when most people that played FOt will say to me that is hardest.Well i must contradict them and i say melee is in fact one of the strongest builds in game along with gunner builds. There are several tricks in game that u can use to your advantage and most that gain from this usefull tricks is melee build.
While ripper is a a good weapon its not that good compared with power fist wich use unarmed.Power fist has kinda similar damage but costs 1 less point so this means more actions wich involve more damage/turn.The weapon that makes melee char overpower over unarmed is cattle prod.Cattle prod is the only melee weapon ingame that has a burst mode and deliver exponential damage compared to other melee/unarmed weapons. But is one problem with cattle prod and this is that it wastes 10 small energy cells per overload so u wont have enough ammo. But using 1 trick u can actually use 1 small energy cell per overload. And here is the trick how u do it:
-Cattle prod has 2 weapon cycle swing and overlod(y shortcut). To use 1 energy cell per overload u need press y right after u use overload on someone. With the right timing doing this u will waste only 1 energy cell and only 4 action points wich are required for swing. With this trick overload will use the ammo and action points that are required for swing mode but will deliver overload damage. For this trick to work u need play the combat in turn based obviously.
Other tricks that will make your game much easier especially if u play on insane tough guy mode:
-aiming the left leg bug. This works only for melee/unarmed from my experience and delivers tons of damage offen in case of critical hit.
-aiming shot cycle bug. This works in similar way as i described for cattle prod but u press"t" instead and u can make aimed shots spending nonaimed action points(this is usefull for firearms or melee weapons other than the cattle prod).
-grinding vodoos for free.U can get vodoos from stealing in random encounters with tribals(from those nonspeared tribals with big hair). The closest random encounter u can meet tribals is right 1 hex under the brahmin wood.Ofc its abit time consuming because sometimes u can get 0 vodoos but other times u can get even 5 vodoos per 1 encounter.U need be patient not all tribals encounters have voodoos ...requires abit of a grinding .But its worthing since vodoos are best drugs in game bt far and with 3-4 of them u can rambo 1 mission easy even on insane mode. For stealing vodoos i recommend using Rage recruit,he has steal tagged so take him 1 mission to xp him and raise his steal.
-You can use Rage to steal all npc inside Bunkers for medical supply, small energy cells drugs and stimpacks.Rage can be a good assistant
character.I recomend Rage as medic/trapper/thief/lockpicker.He has sneak taged and has awareness perk wich is very nice u can raise his medic skill to 80 and use paramedic bag to raise it even further. He also should have crazy bomber and comprehencion perks as trapper and for reading books.
-Raise Stich barter and gamble level to 100 and take him negotiator and salesman perks. After that dump him back in the recruit pool and use him only when u need to sale/buy stuff or to gamble.
-one advice is that u should use always drugs in missions.Vodoos are best drugs in game but u can use psychos buffouts and gums too.For cattle prod u dont need voodoos as much since its overkill even as noncrit hit but for other melee/unarmed build vodoo is a necesity. Its about each preferance, the only thing that u should be carefull is to not overdose your char.
-best way to play melee in missions is in pairs.I dont recommend 1 char as Rambo style in advanced missions because u can get knocked out and this can mean your death. So best thing is to use 2 chars and also u need spend some points into medic skill in case of cripples.U dont need have doctor 100 % 70-80% should be enough since u can use enhancers to reach 100%.
-I recommend use Beth as your 2nd melee.I think its best human melee recruit. Also u build his char more or less similar to yours.U need give her kamikaze trait(by removing bruiser with mutate). Also u need give her 2 ranks of lifegiver and so on.Mother is good char too but deathclaws cannot use melee(wich is sad). Also deathclaws cannot wear armors and it become useless later on in mission where u deal with energy weapons.Deathclaws while having tons of hp dont have much resistance vs energy weapons.
Cattle Prod is available on quartermaster right after Brahmin Wood so u can use it starting with 2nd mission. Also i need to mention that if u go for cattle prod build the optimal build is this:

Female char
Strength 9
Perception 1
Endurance 10
Charisma 1
Inteligence 10
Agility 8
Luck 1
Traits:
-Kamikaze,Heavy Handed
Tag skils:
-melee,sneak,throwing
Perks(in order wich u should take them)
-Hit the deck
-Silent Running
-Lifegiver(2 ranks)
-Bonus Hth Attacks
-Bonus Melee Damage(2 ranks)
-Slayer
-Bonus Melee Damage(last rank)
The skill u need invest most pts into this kind of build is sneak.U need have 200%+ on this skill since using power armors will give heavy penalties in sneak. For melee and throwing u dont need much 130-150 should be enough to have 95% chance to hit from melee range.

I don't know about the advice you give and the build you suggest. I used to play a lot of FOT (and replayed it a couple of months ago) and I would give novice players completely different advice. My favourite build is a character with high sneak skills and the best shotgun I can offer. I love this build so much that I have at least 3-4 of them in my squad. They can clear a map without anyone noticing a thing. It's also not necessary to bump your Sneak skill up to 200, imo. When there is some Sneaking to be done, I have my character take off his armour and sneak without it. Once at the right destination it's easy to re-equip the armour and do damage.

If I would advice (ab)using in ingame flaw, I would suggest having a decent Throwing skill because you can throw grenades over/through walls, straight into the buidling of your choice. Giving you a superduper advantage on pretty much every map.

You also put Perception at 1. I would strongly advice against that. AFAIK Perception also helps you to sense the presence of foes. So I find it most convenient for my Sneakers to have a high Perception. I know you are using melee, but PER 1 still looks ridiculously low. And Endurance 10 seems way too high, even for a melee character. There's armour in the game, so use it. As for a Luck score of 1: you don't get to choose the really nice perks that raise your critical hit chance. So I'd say that's bad advice as well.

I agree to some extent to your comment about perception. But as melee perception isnt a priority, other stats such as endurance are more important. The only thing that i dont like about having low perception is the fact that u have low sequence and u suffer in turn 2 phase of combat(if u play turn based combad) when enemies get 2 round of action because of higher sequence/initiative.
The build i gave it is one way to do it and is for cattle prod only, its the only weapon that makes melee viable(not unarmed).Endurance isnt never to high for a melee character u need high as u can afford, high endurance also allows to use more drugs and also have some small role into not getting knocked out/down so offen as melee u are in the middle of action.Difference between 8 endurance and 10 endurance can mean death or life,as melee your biggest concern is the bypass armors from bursts attack ,and u need take those targets down fastest as possible. Also sneak and silent running is vital to have, most points should be invested in sneak (200+),melee should be no more than 150.
But another way to build a cattle prod character is to take gifted instead kamikaze and raise perception to not suffer from low sequence. And about better criticals perk, this isnt worth it with cattle prod, but for unarmed yes is good since u will aim left leg(while using vodoos) and will raise chance for those nasty astronomical hits.
Cattle prod relly on heavy handed trait(+4 damage) and having max strength and also bonus hth damage(+2 damage)/each level. An end game character can deal 20-30 damage in overload mode wich is insane (multiply this with x10 and damage is just overkill) .Pump recruit is best cattle prod character in the game when it comes to damage but the downside is that he cant sneak and no lifegiver perks wich is most important thing as melee.

It depends a lot on what kind of game you want to play also. For example, one could have an entire squad with Browning M2s, and just ass-ram everything in sight. One guy I went to school with, and the only real-life FoT player I've talked to says he prefered completing the game - without a single companion, playing it as a non-squad game, and never using the sneak function at all. That was his style, and I was quite surprised.

He was the one who recommended to me to have one single barterer, and when it's bartering time, dump everything on him, and barter (before that, I let all my characters barter, one by one)

Personally, I'm a sucker for "realistic scenarios", so I will try to imitate an infantry platoon, trying to give them traditional weaponry, despite efficiency not being at super duper peak. You play to win either way

I've never tried a melee game, and I doubt I will, I'm too used to that comfortable distance between me and my foes

the much easier way to play FOT with downloading any pr0gr4m$:
1.Complete first and the second mission
2.Go at Bunker Alpha and buy the trap alarm
3.Use it on you
4.Heal with a med kit
5.You will have like 412422.... (idk where ends) HP or 21432,anyway the max hp you can have in game.

The second way for cheaters you download:
1.Bosche or BoSSE
2.Use them
3.Modify anything you want

Or you can cheat the game modifying whatever you want if u have skills in modding.
