NCR is probably the most "happy ending" but they all have their benefits and drawbacks depending on how you you view life politically.

NCR is a democracy and it has become corrupt and bloated over time, but since its a democracy people can generally have the ability to work things out and vote out bad or corrupt leaders.

The Legion promises a monocultural, nationalistic, strong society at the expense of complete devotion to Caesar, but the Legion also seems to lack empathy for failure and doesn't seem to have too strong of a plan for when Caesar dies of old age. The Legion's morals often seem to be a bastardized version of what Rome was supposed to be about.

House has a goal in mind but he's even more ruthless than Caesar, and it's unclear whether he'll actually improve anything beyond the Mojave or even possibly the city of New Vegas.

Yes Man is pretty much anarchy/despotism under you so it depends on how your character is in terms of morality.

Oh, there's a cut content mod that makes it so you can allow Mr. House and the BoS to ally each other like it was originally intended. It uses cut dialogue and everything. Here you go: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/37729/?

It works perfectly, but you need 80 speech and you must at least have "Liked" status with the BOS in order to convince Mr. House to stand down.

Boone is an NCR sniper that lives in Novac. He works on the night shift at the top of the Dinosaur. Just go up there around 9 PM in-game time and you can find him. He'll give you a quest and depending on how you do the quest, he can become your follower.

I also felt like the NCR ending was the "happiest," despite how dysfunctional the NCR obviously is. But they require you to assassinate House.

It's funny actually, but I don't think that originally NCR would have you kill Mr. House. At least not as the only option. I have a few cut content mods, one of which restores a lot of cut dialogue, and oddly enough I've noticed NPCs saying this from time to time even though House is dead: "I can't believe House sold out Vegas to the NCR! I thought he was better than that!" and "House handed Vegas over to NCR without a fight. What a fink." So that might mean originally you could have brokered a peace agreement between House and the NCR. Interesting no?

I suspect some of the stuff in the game was deliberately altered so as not to give your conscience an easy out regardless of which faction you chose to support.

I imagine it probably would have required a very high speech check/high Strip reputation + high NCR reputation and probably wouldn't be easy. Most likely it would've been like getting NCR to ally with the BOS, which means doing pretty much all the BOS quest line and making sure McNamara stays in charge rather than Hardin taking over, and I'm pretty sure Veronica's quest is also involved but I could be wrong. But yeah, it's interesting they apparently thought of that. I wish Obsidian had gotten that extra year to work on the game.

I hear there's a mod that kills your conscience. No more worries about killing Mr House, sabotaging the rockets and acting like an immoral bastard.

I would go with House (even if it means killing the brotherhood), mainly because I went with him in my last playthrough and enjoyed it and liked his character.

Go for House, The Brotherhood of Steel(at least in FONV) are dicks and will most likely end up withering away like the rest of the west coast BoS. Houses on the other hand wants to save mankind by going and colonizing another planet, undamned by nuclear war.

How is he going to do that? And I wonder how many people will he be able to carry... for some reason I don't think he's going to carry the poor for free...

New Vegas is more than a city - it's the remedy to mankind's derailment. The city's economy is a blast furnace in which can be forged the steel of a new rail line, running straight to a new horizon. What is the NCR? A society of people desperate to experience comfort, ease, luxury... A society of customers. With all that money pouring in? Give me 20 years, and I'll reignite the high technology development sectors. 50 years, and I'll have people in orbit. 100 years, and my colony ships will be heading for the stars, to search for planets unpolluted by the wrath and folly of a bygone generation.
-Robert Edwin House

As you say, he mostly will only bring the best and brightest. I see as it as a help majority more than the minority type thing.

Would you trust Todd ranting how great the game is, how good the RPG mechanics are and how the story is brilliant? Yeah... see what I mean?

House was one of the greatest minds of the prewar. Will he be able to deliver as fast as he says? Only time will tell

Greatest mind, yet he fails to solve basic problems in Freeside, on his bloody doorstep. What a man.

He doesn't really have a way to. That's the whole problem. He needs the Platinum Chip to fix all his issues before he can become a major player on the Mojave stage. He needed it during 2077 and he needs it now. Without it he's just an old old man trapped in a box with maybe like 30 securitrons to do his bidding. Once you get him the platinum chip though, he has thousands of securitrons. He'd be able to fix pretty much any problem there is. Right now though he kinda has to focus only on Vegas, he literally does not have enough robots to patrol and control anywhere else.

30 securitrons? Hah! I can totally see him forcing the NCR to allow New Vegas to be independent with that amount! They sure will be weakened badly by a couple of robots!

Yeah, pass the other one.

What? That's what I'm saying, he's useless without the Platinum Chip. That's why he needs you. Once he has that Platinum Chip though, a lot of problems would disappear for him. First of all he would have a standing army of over thousands of robots, with an easy way to make more. Not sure if you're aware of this or not but the Securitron Bunker isn't just a storage facility for the army, it's a factory. Think the Institute and how they manage to pop out Gen 3s every 30 minutes but that it actually makes sense within the realms of the universe. So basically House will have an infinite army of robot soldiers to help him control the Mojave. And by extension since the Courier helps House get the chip and set up his army, he also becomes House's right hand man and influences all his decisions, as stated in the ending slides. So if you had a good karma courier, and united everyone under House's banner, you get a really really nice ending and the Mojave's future looks brighter than ever.
