Here is part of foreword by Lead Artist Istvan Pely:

When you play our games, you live in a world that the team at Bethesda Game Studios has already lived in for years. Day by day we see it grow around us, from the initial germ of an idea to a fully realized universe. Each day, new content is added or iterated on, and the world gradually takes form, gains detail, and becomes real.

After years of living in this place, our playground and our home, we open the gates and invite millions to enter and play. This book is an opportunity for us to share with you a bit of the history behind this world, how it has evolved over those years, and why some of the artistic choices were made.

On Bethesda.net there is a 30 page preview of the art book:

Very nice. I noticed they mentioned the late Adam Adamowicz. I assume he knew and had even done some work for Fallout 4 before his death.

The art looks awesome, guess I'll get one.
Would be nice if the collection edition had the art book bundled with the game, plus a nice box like FNV's. A hardcover book is way better than a plastic smart phone bracelet.

Weapons are looking like shit. Just as they did in Fo3. Man, I totally loved the western stuff in New Vegas, but this again now... Meh.

Huh.

Looks like there's some actual weapon tiers now.

I guess they kind of have to since they got rid of weapon wear.

Pipe weapons should settle down the folks who were complaining that there weren't enough scrap weapons. (Don't know why that bothered people, Gun Runners and other organizations started up weapons manufacturing, it's not like Metro 2033 where they had limited resources)

Still kind of peeved the Ripper is a chainsaw instead of a vibroblade.

Might get this if the main plot of the game is interesting, or if they offer it at a reasonable price, say 29.99 or less.

I'm glad weapon wear is gone, it's implemented terribly in almost all games its in. Shooting a gun 500 times isn't going to require replacement parts. Hitting things with a pipe won't cause the pipe to break that quickly, etc.

Nice. As a fellow artist (Concept & Graphic Novelization), I love these art books regardless of how Fallouty they are or not. Just post apocalyptic stuff in general, pretty much the main theme of most of my own work.

Nuce Art for the most part.

I guess there is a Nuka Cola pistol now? "Whacky"..... Why does te Nuka Cola bottle look like a rocket now? Are they gonna retcon more designs or is it just some "special edition bottle" tha is only present in Boston?

I'm willing to bet it's a special edition.

Also, another character reveal, some dude called Tinker Tom with a weird Heltmet with either periscope goggles or just wacky goggles, depends on what they went with.
There is also a Fat Commonwealth resident, Varying body types in this one? Then again that could be for the Concept Art only....

I really hope those guns are only a selection, and that there will be "factory-made" weapons as well, I mean, energy weapons have to exist, and those must be factory made.

What's with those weird Ripper Variants? They look pretty stupid and over designed. They are supposed to be repurposed Medical tools....
