One of the best parts of Fallout 3 for me was the "The Exciting Adventures of Herbert Daring Dashwood" radio program on GNR. Say what you want about Bethesda and FO3, but this was definitely the reason why I could put up with Three Dog's preachy bullshit on GNR. I feel like it was the comedic effect of an otherwise desolate and charmless Capital Wasteland.
When you read the terminal entries of Dashwood in Tenpenny Tower, you get a glimpse of the glory days of Dashwood and Argyle before Argyles's demise and the fall of Rockopolis. I think that, and alongside the radio program, it makes for one of the most redeemable things about FO3, however little it may be.
My question: would you want to see the "The Exciting Adventures of Herbert Daring Dashwood" developed more in a future Fallout title or fanfic?

I'd say it was certainly one of the more interesting aspects of the game.
I don't know if it fit the original games thematically, but I guess it didn't hurt to have it in there.
It was certainly weird hearing places from the original game being referenced 'Shady Sands'
But I guess it's harmless.

IIRC it was okay. I liked it mostly because I liked radio dramas when I was a kid, and this was for me a very fresh and interesting thing to be featured in a video game.
All in all, I like the concept a lot (I can see it being a viable thing to exist and be popular in a post-nuclear society). The execution was somewhat lacking, tho. Not the radio entries themselves (which as I recall were okay and charming at times) but the whole thing where you get to meet Herbert, find the corpse of his servant and stuff...dunno, the moment when this piece of in-game fiction collided with the actual game world, it fell apart a bit. I mean, the whole thing being featured on GNR (which is a pile of problems in itself) was a problem on its own if you scratched a bit under the surface - but that can be said for most of Fallout.
So, no, I wouldn't like to see more of this, really.

Yeah... I was pretty disappointed to see the real Oz behind the curtain on this one. Until I met him, I was like "Damn, Herbert the Wasteland badass."
When you meet him at Tenpenny Tower, he's pretty boring, actually. A shell of his former self. Makes you wonder if that's how all old people are, or Bethesda's shitty writing at play.

Nice piece of world building... If there was any world built in Fallout 3. As it stands it's a wasted opportunity.

I kinda get what you mean.

It's so rare that you get to see fictional dramas from the perspective of wastelanders, that the moment you realise its not a drama, but a retelling of real events, the whole thing becomes redundant.

Didn't find it interesting enough to pay attention; ergo, shit. I didn't listen to the radio for the most part anyway.

I loved it.

And felt really horrible Herbert because his final adventure was such a tragedy.

Doubly so because if you ARE a good wastelander and purity sue, you will get him killed doing the right thing.
