The Nintendo Switch - Press Conference

It went on for almost two hours, but I'm already sold thanks to Xenoblade 2, Sonic Mania, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the new Shin Megami Tensei.

Otherwise, some points to mention:

#1 - The Switch will cost $299.99, and is releasing on March 3rd.
#2 - Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a launch day title.
#3 - The system does use 3DS type cartridges loaded into the screen part of the Switch.
#4 - The two Joycon controllers have gyro sensors, one with an infrared sensor on the underside.

I'm quite surprised this thing's only going to cost three hundred bucks. Given what it has, I was expecting four hundred or maybe three-fifty. That said, I think there's going to be a shortage again; one of my old colleagues from Gamestop called me before the conference and told me reserves were limited, so if you want one on launch, get on it.
 
Mother of God. Fire Emblem, Pokemon, SMT, Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda, and all kinds of other stuff. Should make the perfect backup console while the gaming world is playing Andromeda, I will be playing games catered to my nostalgia based existence.
 
300€ On launch, that's pretty neat.

They are keeping the Wii comeback separate in that 1 2 Switch thingy, luckily or not.

Is that Skyrim the SE version? Don't really care but it may bring on more AAA studios if it is successful.

Lastly, not everyone on the Third Party supporter list has showed stuff. Rootin' for what From Soft is gonna bring

Also all the virtual console catalogue is kind of a given.

If they manage to snab something related to Dark Souls they will be thankful for the niche fanbase who rally behind it. Toss in some of those random Chalice Dungeon like in Bloodborne and port the whole Souls trilogy.

Skyrim will be the SE or it is pointless. It will run like shit though most likely if the performance on the PS4 is any indicator. Super Mario Odyssey, Zelda, and Xenoblade 2 are a system seller for me. That and I can get the wife to play with it a little. Giggity.
 
Gonna sound weird, but now a Wii H would be cheap as fuck, I might go out and grab one before I get a switch.

Then maybe get a switch somewhere down the line.

I kind of just want to try out Xenoblade to be honest.

Me too. It reminds me of Final Fantasy XV open world wise except it actually feels more like a JRPG.

There is the rumor that there might be a Dark Souls Collection/Remastered, maybe including DeS and BB maybe not, and that'd involve PC and Next Gen rereleases. Not really trusting nor hoping for it, but it could be a pretty good farewell of the series. Also imagine "LAN" play sessions ^^.

still have lot to be seen but it's good to see consoles do their job.

If they put a Pokemon RPG on the Switch it will be a hit. They need to cater to the JRPG fanbase which they appear to be doing.
 
No, they need to put a main entry on Switch. Whatever they are doing next should be a Switch exclusive. Maybe a remake of Red and Blue or something. Pokemon Snap is good.
 
If they make a a pokemon consol game for it I will buy it if they don;t make a pokemon console game for it then I will not be buying ! Pretty simple stuff for me
 
That translator they had needs to get fired, or off Valium, dude could barely keep up with Suda and he sounded so bored the whole conference, Holy shit.
So far, eh, I don't really see any must haves for me, I am glad Pokemon Stars turned out to be a bullshit rumor because that would've been the only thing that would make me buy it on release (yeah, I know, pokemon, I have a problem).

That Joycon thing looked small on a Japanese guy's hands, I have big ogre-like hands, I would probaby never be able to use those things without getting carpal tunnel syndrome, "Pro controller" for me I guess.

The whole Ice thing was so stupid, who they were tying to wow with it? Didn't even try to put it in context of how it would work on a game.

Is it just me or the graphics on that Xenoblade game looked awfully like an early ps3 game? EH it's jsut a teaser I guess, not final.

Shin Magumbo Tensei on Unreal 4 tho..... damn you Atlus, you are like Second Pokemon to me.... I hate you....
 
Oh my God, I can't wait for Superman 64 HD remaster Fallout edition developed by Black Isle and published by Titus.
 
It is all about the exclusives these days. They need a couple of heavy hitting IP's that are brand spanking new with a quick turnaround. Re-releasing Mario Kart 8 with addons is the right idea, but they need to think a little bigger. Redo most of the Wii U lineup if possible.

Here is a list of HD ports/updates they could do:

Wonderful 101
Xenoblade 1 with 2 would be cool.
Pikmin 3 - release the whole series to boost the exposure.
Splatoon
Star Fox
Fatal Frame
Donkey Kong
Super Mario Maker - Update this with more skins to warrant the release.

None of those really did well enough, so stretching that dollar might help. Any main series entry like Donkey Kong that was released for the Wii U should be considered for an update or compilation of some sort. They need to flood the market with titles that are top quality that people missed out on.

I will play Zelda regardless of the system it comes out on if it is a main entry. Start doing better with the deals because free SNES and NES games already exist. Release Mother 3 already for fucks sake too. Acknowledge Super Mario RPG if you can. Hit the Esports scene hard. Run from the kid image as hard as possible. If Mario needs to go PG13 so be it. Stop it with Bowser already. The best Super Mario villain was last seen in Super Mario Bros 2. Can you imagine a new Mario game with Princess not being used as a trophy/rapebait? Super Mario RPG had something like that.

Nintendo must stay focused on the couch and split screen while also expanding their online infrastructure. This is why they are obviously playing catch up and offering the subscription like every other major player did years ago. They work so slowly. They need to start thinking from the gamer perspective. We don't want to buy Super Mario World for the fifth time. They know they need to release Mother 3 and Metroid. If they don't announce something with either one of those in 2017 they are out of touch. You don't release both Mother 1 and 2 and then not release 3. They even have a fan translation available.

They have to start thinking about the West a little more. Japan isn't buying console shit. They like to play on the go and the Switch won't last on the subway. I have no doubt they will upgrade the battery and charge a bunch for it. It would be cool if Konami came out of nowhere and released a new Switch Exclusive Contra and Castlevania and MGS old school style with 16 bit graphics that they whored out to a better developer. Imagine all of these old developers coming out of the wood work and making sequels to Zombies Ate My Neighbors or Turtles in Time or Rock in Roll Racing or Gradius or Sunset Riders or The Legend of the Mystical Ninja or Pit Fighter or Parodius.....

I would pick it over the Xbox any day, but a PS4 will always be required if your PC can't hack it.


And Konami or more likely Nintendo already thought of it.

Does this thing even have a Touchscreen? If it doesn't then Wonderful 101 and Mario Maker would need a rework (specially Wonderful 101).
