(Vault City) Stark Attack!

I'm playing a female chara right. After I repaired the powerplant myself for 4500exp. (instead of leting Festus do it for 4250exp which is the way I allways choose) some strang things have happened.

1) If I get to close to Stark he attacks (I can still speak to him if I keep my distance but it is iritating).

2) I ain't able to tell Harold about the Vault Dweller so that I wont get three super stims.

3) Skeeter wont give me his second quest.

Any idea?

Thats weird, i always play female, and although i have never been offered the second skeeter quest , the other 2 things you mentioned havent happened to me. Must have been a dialogue thing rather than fixing the powerplant, cos i always fix the powerplant myself, being unable to get that lazy bum Festus to get the lead out...

Common sense.. doing something on your own is harder than getting others to do... 4250 for fixing it, 250 for doing it yourself.. or maybe BlackIsle is sexist and thinks females are stupid and poor mechanics, so if they can fix it, they get more experience


1) Bug. Part of the bug may be caused that you did something to piss him off. Hey, is stark the one you can get $500(i think) for screwing?

2) You need right speech, charisma, setting.. alot of factors

3) theres the plasma thing and then the car thing, right? I think you have to either show him your toolkit, or ask for a car part... thinking of mechanics, i just remembered.. you can steal the toolkit back from skeeter, and you can get your guns fixed up and steal the cash right back.. also, also give them unloaded guns, because they fill it with ammo, nice for a minigun, if only you could upgrade it
 
Fallout 2 : Vault City - Stark had turned apesh!t on me

Don't know why this is happening, but every time I venture into the Corrections Center, Stark starts shooting at me. My character is idolized at Vault City and no, I am NOT sneaking Marcus into the city.

How to fix?
 
You probably pissed him off to the point that he auto-attacks. How you triggered it without being present the first time, I don't know.

Did you kill someone in VC?

Given the amount of replies in this thread, I think I again have to point out the READ BEFORE POSTING thread, in which I instruct proper posting methods. Background information, in particular.
 
Fallout 2, Stark wants to kill me.

Fallout 2, official patch only.

In Vault City I'm having a problem whereby Serg Stark goes aggressive the moment he sees me causing all othjer guards in the city to come running for me. Last I spoke to him he was fine with me and I took the visit NCR quest. I haven't yet done the quest but now he wants me dead I can see that fulfilling it will be difficult.

Any idea what I did to annoy him (without being near him at the time!)? Going back in the saves it seems he became angry with me sometime during my time running between Gecko and Vault city fixing up the power plant.

Lenny is left in the courtyard.

I know the search brings up a similar topic but no answer was given.

Any way to fix this? If it's simple I'm not averse to altering the files somehow to stop him being hostile.
 
I don't know. I fixed the gecko reactor, and i took this quest. Maybe he got angry just because you haven't finished the quest and got back to him? Or you did the same what I - blown up the gecko reactor :)
 
There are dialog options which will make Stark hostile (f.e. he believes that you're a raider), but scenery objects will prevent him from attacking you as he doesn't actually "see" you (I believe in this case it's a large table). It happened to me once too, but I was still able to finnish all dealings with him as one of my NPCs covered me from Stark's sight :D.
 
I find it very strange that some NPC's wont care if you loot there house, but some will shoot if you so much as touch there equipment pack.

I remember once going into the Dean's office at my college and while he was sitting there doing paperwork I opened the droors of his desk, took out all the valuables (lots of office supplies to sell for change, a nudie mag, and a silver Colt .45), then walked away. I didnt even bother to close the door and he never responded to what I did.

Strange world.

It's true. I've sometimes looted houses in F2 or F1 and nothing happened - like in New Reno in Bishop's casino. But f.e. in Vault City i was warned not to touch it, and in Necropolis F1 a ghoul attacked me because i've looked at his library. Strange
 
Why does Stark in VC attack me?

Ok, so I came back to Vault city after having been to the NCR for that quest Stark gives you. And suddenly, he attacks me. I thought that maybe it was an issue with him and Cassidy, so I left all my NPCs at the gates instead (Cassidy, Sulik, and Vik... I let Lenny get killed earlier on). I am a citizen of the city and I never attacked anyone and I never pissed off the First Citizen. Also since the last time I came there, not much happened. I killed Metzger's slavers at the Den and I also accepted the quest for Vault 15 from Tandi.

Is that it? Is he attacking me because I dealt with Tandi? But how would he know? Could somebody explain? Or is this a bug
 
Ancient bug, you should have searched the forum for "Stark".

The most likely reason is that you have looted some containers in the CC.

i did search but i guess i wasn't searching for the right keywords...

it turns out that i can still do the quests, etc - he attacks me only at a certain distance and i can talk to him from further away, so i guess it's not too bad. but i've beat this game probably 10 times now and i've never had it happen to me
