Liam Neeson to Play Lead Role in Fallout 3
Famed Actor to Provide Voice Work in Game Developed by
Bethesda Softworks, Creators of the 2006 Game of the Year</center>

May 8, 2007 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks® is pleased to announce that highly acclaimed international actor Liam Neeson will lead the cast providing voice work in Fallout 3. Neeson will play the role of the player’s father and will appear prominently throughout the game. Fallout 3 is currently under development at Bethesda Game Studios, creators of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion®, which won numerous Game of the Year and RPG of the Year awards in 2006.

“This role was written with Liam in mind, and provides the dramatic tone for the entire game,” said Todd Howard, Executive Producer of Fallout 3. “Liam is absolutely amazing to work with.”

Neeson is known for starring roles in blockbuster films such as Schindler’s List, Star Wars: Episode I, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Batman Begins. Throughout his illustrious career, Neeson has been the recipient of numerous honors for his work in film and theater, including Academy Award, Golden Globe and Tony Award nominations.

“It’s been a pleasure bringing the father to life and working with the wonderfully talented people at Bethesda on Fallout 3,” said Neeson. “I hope the fans of the franchise and the game will be excited by the results.”

No other details on Fallout 3 have yet been revealed by Bethesda. More information will be coming in the next few months.</blockquote>Link: Bethesda press release

Liam Neeson :salute:

Not a bad pick, not a bad pick alone, the guy's got a great voice, and a subdued one at that.

Let's hope the rest of the cast is that strong

I don't like the sound of that. I don't want someone providing the dramatic tone for the entire game. It suggests an overarching character that occurs very frequently.

That, or he replaces Ron Perlman as the narrator. Which would suck as well.

Then again, Liam Neeson is a great actor, so eh. Could be worse, I suppose. He was brilliant in Rob Roy, anyway.

Waste of money :?

I'm sure that there is good and "cheaper" voices for that work. Like "Garret" actor, much better than Liam Neeson and cheaper.

At least, he's not Robin Williams

Don't forget that Fallout had a host of big names starring as well.

I can see Liam Neeson as a character voice, but I think they can't replace Pearlman as the initial voice over.

I like Liam Neeson a lot, and I'm pleased to see him in Fallout 3.

I wonder though, the role of the players father that features prominently throughout the entire game. Hm. I hope the father character isn't someone "to close" to the main character.
I liked that you felt rather alone in the originals.
And the dramatic tone... Hrm.

I hope they'll be able to get Ron Perlman for the opening voiceover. Maybe he can threaten to kill Pete or something. :P

Oh great, more crap Jeremy Soule music. I'd rather have Mark Morgan back to rip off some more music from others than this.

Bet you money most of the voice-acting budget will go into Ron Perlman's narration, some famous actor as the voice for an important NPC, and then 10 low-talent voice actors to speak for the rest of the world's inhabitants.

Things are looking bleaker for Fallout 3 every day.

I'd rather see them get the gameplay and setting right than blow their budget on movie stars. F1/F2 had Ron Perlman, Michael Dorn, and Richard Dean Anderson, but I bet Neeson is getting paid what those 3 got combined.

I can see ways for them to get it right, though I fear that the father character will just turn into a way for the player's hand to be held.

Tying it in with the previous concept art and the E3 art, I suppose that it's possible that he'd be your father from before the bombs fell, and that the game will take place while your family emerges from a Vault.

Liam Neeson? certainly not the first name to pop in my head when i think Fallout, but he's surely the right calibre of an actor to pull it off (if the writers are worth a damn). lets just hope it doesn't come at the cost of something else.

OMG Liam Neeson , this is like the best thing ever. Now I am positive that FO3 will not fail, THANK YOU BETHESDA, I LOVE YOU GUYS...I am not sure what kind of reaction Bethesda expected with this announcement, but i doubt that they will ever get the one above. Now don't get me wrong I am not mad at all here, but I had the same fears as the mighty Ziltoid and personaly I would've taken Ron Jeremy. I just hope that this is not there way of covering up a huge mess...wich I doubt but you never know. I wonder how expessive he was & will this ever affect the price tag on the game.
