where can one get a copy of the old-school wasteland game? my friend used to have it but sold it in a garage sale
 
actually, you can DL it quite legaly from www.theunderdogs.org, along with many, many abandonware, shareware and freeware games.... just search for "Wasteland" or go to the W section and click the link, its only a few Kbs too.... (also, check out the S section for a surprise - System Shock and Syndicate Wars are avaliable for download too).

You can`t dl Wasteland from the underdogs, only the manual. I don`t remember from where i got it, just search the abbandonware sites, and don`t forget to dl every file, since you`ll need to print a particular one to follow the story. And use the DOS version, it`s simpler, but things will appear to be too fast, i`ll tell you that...

I doubt a company are likely to enforce copyright on a game as old as Wasteland. I doubt so many sites would host its file if it was "illegal", although by the letter of the law it probably is still under copyright im 99% sure that anyone who could possibly make a fuss would just view it as abandonware.
 
Actually the compagny that still hold Wasteland copyright and itellectual property are enforcing those copyrights (EA).
You don't believe me? check with the underdogs try to dl Wasteland, try to dl fountain of dreams, try to dl autoduel...

heck if they wanted to they could fuss over the fact that i'm using this picture in my sig, but they don't do that, since i'min some sort of way promoting their game, and not distributing it freely even though it's older than you.
