What do you do for a living?

Flop

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Yeah, I know this is a pretty standard topic, but I did a search for something similar and didn't find anything. I'm also aware that Introduce Yourself topic is probably where people are supposed to write this, but a lot of people don't, so here goes.

What do you do for a living? I guess I'll go first.

I'm studying Japanese at the university of Copenhagen. No, I'm not an anime or manga fanatic, but we do have quite a lot of those as well. And yes, it is a living, since in Denmark you're paid to study. I get the equivalent of 600-700 dollars a month. That's not a lot when you live in Copenhagen, so I have a job cleaning offices on the side.

Paid to study? Whoa.

I'm studying philosophy and I work in the student health center for my cash. Prior to that I used to work in an auto upholstery shop.

It sucked.

I'm a grad student working on a ph.d. I also teach (two courses this term) and work at the university library on saturdays. Doesn't pay much, but being a student teaches you how to budget.

I seem to remember a topic like this in the Order... or something. My memory isn't the best in the first place, quite possibly I am wrong.

I'm a student, working for an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, after that I will pursue a graduate degree. During my spare time I work in the shop for fun and profit (and most of the time I find it relaxing), I usually work with metals.

Though I live in the United States, I also receive a small monthly stipend from the government as a student, on the stipulation that I remain a student and don't marry. It's enough (barely) to live on.

I've had a number of Jobs. I worked at Harkins Theaters, I've done data entry, I've worked at Wal-mart (god help me), and i've been a plumber. However just recently I've been put on full Athletic Scholarship for Football so thats my job now.

I'm a Crew Chief on Ch-47D Chinook Helicopters for the US ARMY. Got Aerial Gunnery (M60d) sometime this week if the weather breaks.

Pic up my Desert Issue tomorro and got fitted for the new Air-Warrior Armor and Desert Cooling system today...

Pretty exiteing work, especially when you're hauling infantry losers around and just drop spare bolts and shit from above you while doing routine checks...

I'm working on a programming degree right now. I get my money from the wonderful world of department store retail. Remember, be nice to the sales people and READ the coupons.

Nice thread topic...

Im currently one year and three classes from my Associates Degree in Biology. I am paying for it with lots of free financial aid since Im poor and with my income from pushing shopping carts at a Wal-Mart.

To think you guys all get to work in air conditioned/heated environs while I freeze in 0 degree February weather with -10 wind chill or in a summer thunderstorm with rain dropping buckets on me.

It makes me tough though...

They PAY people to get an education in Denmark!? At last a nation of the world is ruled by the intelligent and wise!

Hey nice job Elissar! Seems like now I know of someone here who can talk about guns and not just be a teenager who daydreams about the stuff he see's in video games...

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

In your dreams (or mine, actually). We're still ruled by morons.

Ex-car-care-specialist...(er, got on my hands and knees and cleaned up after slobs) Made damn good money though considering most of our clients were Corvette, Lexus, Mercedes etc. owners. Learned lots about cars and each of their little quirks(Lookin' fer a used car?, drop me a line first). Then started up college, and basically took whatever job I could get. Currently kickin' it in a sporting goods store. Play with balls, scope chicks... not bad.

Im a student working on a criminal justice degree... so yeah... i know what it is to be poor... but i do ref paintball on the weekend and that helps out a little

I'm a History student at the University of Gent; I work on a construction yard on the side, and in the holidays I work with children.

I've had my share of various jobs, worked at a Hi-fi store for a couple of years which only made me a pure bread Bower & Wilkins and Electrocompaniet fan. Next up was a record store, then I helped open up a Spaceworld store (which is known to Norwegians). Worked there for a year or so, I was the hardware/software/movies geek and also assistant manager.

Oh right I've also flipped burgers when I was young and also worked at a night club/bar.

Currently I work as an IT consultant at an oil company, worked there for about 4.5 years now..

Currently studying Cisco, getting my CCNA certification this fall..

I study graphics at the European Arts Academy, second year. Which means drawing, designing, taking pictures, more drawing, drawing naked women, alcohol, more women, drugs and punk rock.

For a living, I do the occasional graffiti in some rich kid's room, design night clubs' graphic theme. Or mow the lawn in somebody's house. In summer, I sell some of my graphics and paintings in a touristic town a few kilometers from here.

I'm currently taking part in an educational programme funded by the ministry of culture. Big program, country-wide. Oh yeah, and I'll be leading an arts workshop in the Warsaw Castle in a few months. Good money.
