For me it seems the DLC already has a con, you have to evacuate Zion, most likely meaning once you're done you can't come back again (taking the most complained about downside from Dead Money).

On the up side, it does seem to have these.

  • Larger, more open than Dead Money

    More factions and expanded factions

A story that has actually been mentioned in the main game before an addon made it appear so (*coughDeadMoneycough*)

Reoccurring characters (Ringo, various misc characters)

I hope that they add Legion controlled towns due to the eastward expansion, that would greatly increase my want to do the Legion ending. Also hope they make enemies that can step to my level 30s godlike strength.

Well, the Sierra Madre was mentioned at least as much as the Honest Hearts dlc. Except that folks talked a little bit about Graham in the game. The Honest Hearts story itself was not mentioned in the game.

By now, I don't think we will see New Canaan in the dlc. It seems to be much more tribal related, with a small group of mormon missionary, which are in a conflict with the burned man.

I expect the arroyo music track from Fallout 2 - one of my favorites - to be back. ;) And a vast open space like on that one screenshot.. Hopefully as much good writing as Dead Money feautured.

Well the existence of the Sierra Madre and of course Father Elijah were mentioned in Fallout New Vegas, so your claim that it was only invented in Dead Money is not really true.

Of course we only knew of the Sierra Madre because of the graffiti but still.

Not really sure if we should expect Legion controlled towns, Utah is located above Arizona and New Mexico where the Legion is based but Caesar seemed more interested in spreading the Legion Westwards that expanding into all directions.

I am not sure even if the Legion has the numbers to spread into all directions and maintain full control of their current territory.

Of course Legion raiding parties and tribes loyal to the Legion can not be ruled out.

More settlements would be nice but I am really curious if we get to see New Canaan.

In Van Buren its located next to Great Salt Lake, or at least Jericho.
Not that far from Salt Lake City which I believe in VB was the site of New Jerusalem before it was destroyed.
This is quite a distance from New Vegas, even with its compressed maps.
Most likely New Canaan will be now found somewhere closer to the Nevada/Utah border.

BTW, if you checked the achievements it seems you later get to return to Zion during Honest Hearts, so the region may remain open.

It would be nice if it was indeed a free roaming map, perhaps on a somewhat smaller scale of the New Vegas map.

Which achievement do you refer to? The only one I can see which might fit is When We Remembered Zion (Arrived at Zion), but this sounds more like an achievement you get when you first enter the area (why does entering an area is worth an achievement anyway? It's not much an achievement on your side, if you have to go there anyway).

I hope that they add Legion controlled towns
They better considering that the whole story revolves around the Legion attacking the damn. Its like in Fallout 3 how they had too ad the pitt to make it make sense with no slaves in the dc wasteland but loads of slavers.

They don't have to do it. The legion have their Territories on the south, thsi takes place far far away, this probably is about Graham trying to make hsi own tribal party to probably hit the legion back.

Dead Sea says he borned in Great Salt Lake and the region is controlled by the Legion, so we may see Legion controlled towns.

And I hope we can travel back to the region and see the changes that happened.

Heh, never played a Legion friendly game so the only way I meet Dead Sea is usually when I storm Nelson and take him out with the rest of the Legion.

Still interesting tidbit though.

Add;

From the Vault wiki it seems more that Dead Sea came from the region but no information if the Legion controls it.
Could just as well have been a slaving expedition that ventured there that found him.

I always wanted to do a legion based game, but I have a hard time with changing my habits...

Actually you don't need to play a Legion friendly game, the first time you go to Nelson and stand before him just ask "who are you". ;)

I explore every available dialog in FNV, even if it won't generate XP, the writen is simply superb in this game.

Edit: he doesn't say explicit the Legion control the region, maybe could be a slaving expedition or maybe the Legion indeed control the region.
We will know in HH.

I prefer to have an open mind regarding their appearance or not in the DLC.

Maybe Dead Sea was just one of the first members? probably a friend or an understudy, or something of Graham.

I'd like to swim in the salt lake. Maybe they could put something
nice at the bottom for people who bothered to get the rebreather.

I'd also like to be able to revisit the area.

The only time I heard the Madre mentioned in the game was on a personal console in the brotherhood bunker, and I'm not even sure if that was there before the DLC came out.

This achievements requirements: "Evacuate Zion"

Well, "evacuate" means leaving Zion and not coming back to Zion.

Also Father Elijah is mentioned by a few BoS folks, even if you don't have the DLC installed - In the same way as the burned man is mentioned.

I don't expect this to happen, but it would be nice if Kurisu was mentioned.

There's a subtle reference to Dead Money during You'll Know When It Happens/Arizona Killer. President Kimball honors Private Watson with the Star of Sierra Madre.

Which appears to be the NCR's version of the Medal of Honor. Apparently the Sierra Madre was quite legendary in the Mojave wasteland. I also once saw a Sierra Madre poster that said "begin again" in an office building somewhere, not sure if it was only added there after you install the DLC though.

I am expecting a decent-sized DLC, hopefully we will be able to return to it. I am liking the setting of Honest Hearts, tribal warfare. We might see some of Caesar's tactics with Graham (assimilate tribes into his own, remove their identity)

From the Vault: "According to conversations with Caesar, his empire controls much of the Four States Commonwealth." Utah is part of that commonwealth, so seeing Legion controlled towns may be likely.

I expect it to be a lot like point lookout. Tribals, superstitious religious beliefs. Lots of wilderness wondering. I will probably be the most satisfying of the DLC's, Old World blues will probably be the coolest and most fun, though i worry that lonesome road might be a letdown.
