What's with America and Clickbait?

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
Seriously, when ever I'm linked to some gaming blog or just a blog post in general, there will always be clickbait at the bottom of the page. Is it just America?

And the names are pretty annoying too, and I haven't a clue what's inside the click-baity links, because I don't click 'em.

Maybe we need some rules enforced that titles should be descriptive, and it should be strictly enforced. :revolution:

The Guardian does it.

The "www." in the URL means "World Wide Web," so that should give you a clue. Click bait is just part of the evolution of ads.

See also: the entire 19th season of South Park.

By the way, fuck authoritarianism. The ads can be titled whatever they want.

Sweden is also ripe with click-bait. Big newspapers have their own clickbait sites with the typical "you will never believe what happened next..." headlines.

It's a pretty obvious evolition of modern media and ad revenue. I'm trying my damnest not to click that shit, but even I fall for it from time to time. Typically when it involves cute animals.

Boredom is pandemic. Clickbait stimulates the mind oh-so-slightly and it comes in prepacked, nice, easy consumable chunks. The advertisements are just icing on the top for the companies.

The one I hate the most 'someone remastered Call of duty 2 and the results are amazing' like fuck you, I will decide for myself.
I'll even more impressed if the headline was 'fan recreates Call of duty 2 in HD' it gives the article a sense of what it is without giving away too much, 'results are amazing' just sounds like someone is jerking off to their own opinions.

It should just be 'fan recreates CoD 2 in HD.' Or something.
