World Cup 2010 South Africa

INTERNET HATE MACHINE
So we have an american "football" thread. So why not one about soccer.

I'm really not the sports guy anymore, since living behind closed louvered blinds doesn't include that much physical activity

But yeah I'm still down with any good match. Naturally since I'm from soccer crazy Germoney.

So any predictions? I've seen a lot of Euros and other nonamerican folks on here so there must be a few guys of you being excited.

I would be, 'cept it's months away and nothing is happening with it.

well it is certanly going to be better than whatever happening in ukraine and poland in 2012

As a good brazilian, i like soccer, and I really believe our chances of getting the title this year are high :D although the team this year isnt that great, and Dunga (Brazil coach) is kind of stubborn. But, I believe in our team's potential, we still have some pretty great players in the team.

Would be nice to see an African team either win or to make the final. A little sad that many interesting teams that haven't yet been in the world cup didn't make the tournament.

Heh. If i see an African team getting "helped" to the finals like a certain asian team a few years ago that's it with the world cups for me.

Awwww, you must be Spanish.
These conspiracy theories are so cute, but they're also nonsense. Poor officiating happens at every level of the sport, doubly so when the FIFA decides to play political games with its referees rather than assigning the best referees to the games.

Actually the worst call I saw at the last world cup was Australia vs Italy. Tied game at 90th minute, Italy tying would have meant they were out, Italian dives in the box, penalty given, Italy advances.

Shit like that makes soccer really unwatchable.

Anyways, Spain seems strong, even if they lost against the Americans, Argentina doesn't seem strong whatsoever(Maradona fails). Other than the usual suspects, I don't think we'll see any surprises.

Yeah, Maradona seems to be having difficulties with his team. In my opinion Argentina has a lot of really great players it's just a question of - will they get their team vibe or not.

A lot of really good teams playing this year, it's gonna be fun watching it.

Maradona is an idiot, in almost every sense. Too good Argentina has a good team to rely on, because if they were to rely on theirs coach skills...

So here are the groups if anyone needs refresh memory:

Brazil and Portugal are in the same group with Ivory Coast, I guess this one is tough. Also Germany, Ghana, Serbia and Australia is a tough one.

Argentina is with Greece and I'm not sure South Korea is that tough. Uruguay?

Which group do you think is the toughest?

Is good to see the groups are pretty well divided. At least one strong team for each group.
But I really think Brazil's group (G) is the toughest.
