X-Box says Fallout 3 for 2!

Yes! According to X-Box

A typo? Maybe.<blockquote>Vault-Tec engineers have worked around the clock on an interactive reproduction of Wasteland life for you to enjoy from the comfort of your own vault. Included in Fallout® 3 is an expansive world, unique combat, shockingly realistic visuals, tons of player choice, and an incredible cast of dynamic characters. Every minute is a fight for survival against the terrors of the outside world—radiation, super mutants, and hostile mutated creatures. Remember, it's from:

Vault-Tec®, America's First Choice in Post-Apocalyptic Simulation™

Oh Boy! Because there is nothing quite like the love of fallout, except maybe sharing that love with someone SPECIAL.

Thanks to Ausir for pointing this out. And everyone note how the background art in that header
bntfallout3.jpg

is ripped straight from our own dear Defonten.

EDIT: both the banner and the 2 player listing have been removed now.

Defonten's art is so good that yet another website mistakes it for official concept art.

And this:

is old.

I linked Ausir to the site to check out the box art / 2 player thing and was completely oblivious to the backdrop of the header (though I did note the 2 BOS soldiers looking silly)... great catch, Ausir.

Microsoft probably just pushed Bethesda to add multiplayer Co-op over Xbox live, à la Gears of War. Microsoft can be a bitch when it comes to marketing their games, I suppose.

I donno, it would either be tragic or hilarious if this was some big surprise on Beth's side and the microsoft boys accidentally ruined it for them.
I mean, are we at the point now where we can laugh in quasi-depression over the new screw ups that me might end up seeing beth start to pour out as we learn more and more the closer we get to the release date? You know, that kind of "Haha, oh god what next?" kinda laughter.
Or are we still at the point of "oh god, please stop. Don't do anything else to the game please"?

What I mean is, stages of grief wise are we still on bargaining, or have we on average moved up to depression and/or acceptance?

Nah, I don't think they can handle the complications that would create.
Run and Gun -- one player controls movement while the other explodes cars and shoots orcs, er, supermutants..

You know something funny, before i read the new i watched the screenshots and though: "finnaly some cool fallout concept art background, maybe its not all lost :)"... go figure...

Has anyone already contacted the webmaster to know who made the banner and if by any chance contacted Defonten to ask for its consent ?
If it's not the case (wether it's a in-house or freelance graphic artist), dropping credits when due would be the minimum...

its what the original devs would have wanted .. if they had the technology .. and some special mental condition

lets remember that theyre just buying out the engine and customizing it .. so if gamebryo gets a new feature... huzzah for fallout 3

lets not blame Microsoft for everything - its starting to sound like the ... violent games kill people thing...

seriously if it felt like Fallout 3 would have been in good hands i wouldnt have minded this all that much...

Any Two Can -- Pay To Play

Any Two Can -- Pay To Play

""Vault-Tec®, America's First Choice in Post-Apocalyptic Simulation™""

A product repacked for sale in the big Microsoft box, for the big box department stores.
This a part of what some call cultural convergence, where all media merge into a common continuum?
Or just ONE to rule them all? Microsoft or Walmart, who will be able to tell the difference?
Good old robber baron verticalization in the push to control all the means of supply and production and distribution and dissemination.
ONE to rule them all.

Before this 2 player issue, I thought the former Bethesda ,
now the Microsoft crony (or concubine?) 'Vault-Tec' ,
...... no wait, Bethesda is fingered as the dev and publisher.

'Vault-Tec' appears to be a role Bethesda is playing, 'the maid' in ''master and slave''? Hands on practice as research?
'Vault-Tec' adds an air of ad drama -- continuity-- that is standard in movies and books, rare in most video game series.
Continuity for game IP is 'teh hard'.

Well I had this notion that "Vault-Tec' had the FPS part hammered out
and were working in the rpg nuances ''the girly man" talking parts
between the 'reel boyz' glory of maiming and murderous mayhem,
THE REAL MEAT that is necessary for a Nex Gen commercial success.

""...Every minute is a fight for survival..."" A high target density to time 't' , familiar to arcade shooting, and god mode aspirations.

Now I see 'Vault-Tec' is wedging in this combo play. Another Nex Gen must have. And I wonder if it was planned from the start or grafted on?
How well did 'Vault-Tec's' AI - SCRIPTING - work in Oblivion? Grafted on or hoax?
Once and future-FO3, are the rpg parts planned from the start or grafted onto a FPS shooter?
rpg grafted on or hoax?

Wait, watch, and see.

If they have made the game to become more like Gears of War (they have done some serious rreorganizationto the game), the co-op mode could be a very good feature for it. I personally loved gears of war. I know it was nothing like fallout used to be, but if this is what we're facing, then yes, co-op!

Defonten should sue. it's not as if X-Brick & Mickeysoft don't have any money. ;)
