XBOX 360

So at the best buy where I work, customers started lining up by 1:00 yesterday afternoon. When we closed the store at 10 pm, it was pouring and over 50 people had gathered outside. In the end, only about 40 of them got Xboxs (that was all we had) and now I'm seeing that some our on sale on ebay for 3000 dollars and more.

Sounds like everywhere across the country, the situation was pretty much just as ugly. From articles at gamespot:

When he returned, the security guard's attempts to get the over 100-person crowd to form a line were rebuffed until the arrival of police and a California National Guardsman around 8am. A trio of veteran GameSpotters witnessed the Guardsman quickly take control of the situation and move to the head of the line--where he promptly turned around and asked for a 360 voucher himself. The Guardsman then promptly fled the scene, voucher in hand, leaving police, Target employees, and a visibly agitated crowd to fend for themselves.

What do you guys think about all these stupid buffoons who think it's worth buying a crappy ass console for tons of money the day it comes out instead of waiting when it's slightly less tons of moeny with a few ont totally crappy games on it?

Were any of you out there?

To resell it for multiple times the investment? I think that's totally worth it, and I wish I had gotten in on it. Oh well.

Hahaha! Sneaky!

I still have to wait a few days (two or three, i think) before it`s released here, anyone tryed the thing? How is dvd playback, video upscaling working well, HDMI beeing well implemented or not? I`m thinking about getting one, to replace my dvd player, not exactly to play games.

Well forget about it, no HDMI from the box, nor video upscaling. The console is beeing sold with the bare minimun at an excessive price, you then have to waste hundreds of euros to upgrade in order to get anything working. And although Microsoft is gaining on the dollar/euro rates, they are still selling the console in Europe with a premium regarding the american counterpart. Lost interest.

Im so dissapointed in Microsoft, not suprised though. I friggin hate big corporations that fuck people out of money. I guess all big corps. fuck people out of money though... that's how they got big. Microsoft is a prime example of America at it's worst. I wanted a 360, but now I want a Alienware. Fuck consoles. I used to love em, but I am reborn.

I bet Microsoft has dealings in shit Halliburton never dreamed of.

I guess that's what they'll get for wanting to be the first one to release the next-gen console.

Rushed humbug.

Or waiting hours for one, walking triumphantly out of Best Buy or Walmart or wherever at 12:01 AM, and promptly having it stolen out of your hands.

I thought stability and absence of bugs out of the box was supposed to be the biggest edge consoles had over PC? I wonder what inane explanations will remain for console fanboys to come up with in order to justify throwing $400 through the window.

Console fanboys are immune to things like facts and reason, but you already knew that. I really love the fact that they do say stuff like that though: "I bought an xbox because I don't want to spend thousands (me: lol) upgrading my computer every few years just to be able to play modern games at a decent fps", while they're getting a max 30 fps on Halo 2 with shitty washed out graphics to boot.

"Hey, XBOX 360 is only $400! That's much cheaper than upgrading my pc! Wait, these graphics look the same as the regular xbox! You mean I have to buy a $1000 hdtv in order to make it look good?"

Xbox 360's launch day issues aren't different from PS2's launch day issues. Think of a console launch as a Beta test.

Let's not forget that said Halo 2 costs $10 more than its PC version would (if it existed, that is).

On an unrelated note - Halo is inferior to most PC first person games, but that doesn't stop XBox fanboys from exalting it like the ambrosia of gaming, probably because it *is* the pinacle of their meager game selection.
