Your Favorite Fallout 1/2 Moments

Sgt. Dornan

First time out of the vault
I did a bit of lurking and couldn't find a similar thread to this, so I made one. Admins excuse me if there is already one.

(POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD, VIEW AT YOUR OWN CAUTION SOLDIER!)

Post your favorite ingame moments here. For me it is obviously "joining" the Enclave in fallout 2, Since I read a rule somewhere about there being no pictures allowed I will link a imgur album at the bottom of the post.

Honestly guarding Navarro is the dumbest thing you can do, you basically sit still, cooking inside the confines of your power armor in the heat of the desert (or maybe it has cooling idk) getting yelled at by the infamous Sergeant Dornan. Besides completing the quest you were sent for by the BOS you can have some small talk with the Guard adjacent to you (it's only 3 repeating dialogue lines) maybe wonder a bit when the Sergeant isn't looking or admire the steel birds lying on the landing pad. But this mission to me honestly shows why you really can't help the Enclave at all in the game, They don't need you at all and when you can join (by tricking Chris) you are basically equal to the other boots around you getting the crappy task of guarding your Vertibird refuel depot from tumbleweeds or something. Eitherway I have a save that is at the point where you enter navarro so whenever I get bored I just reload there so I can enjoy the dialogue with Sgt. Dornan and can pretend that I am actually a part of the Enclave.

My favorite part of Fallout 2?

Why, it's you, Sergeant! You're the best character in the entire franchise!

...I loved FO2 for all the reasons its creators disliked it. All the pop culture references and fourth wall breaking moments. The unavoidable mowing down of Lumpy the ghoul with the Highwayman and him complaining about it. The occasional hilarious description when you look at an object. Calling the world-weary Comms officer from Gecko (wish I could have been nicer to him). Going on the scavenger hunt for the old ghoul in Broken Hills, though perhaps not so much trapping the midget in the well. Goris and Xarn--I hope he made it okay. Definitely the bridgekeeper.

Good question, I had to ponder this for a while.

Fallout 1:
-All interactions with the Int. 1 Character with NPC's, I absolutely loved that they put that into the game. "Mom?"

-Killing the Deathclaw in the Boneyard, was so tough the first time I did it that I actually patted myself on the back.

-Figuring out nifty ways the devs had programmed logical solutions into puzzles; got a locked door and a crowbar?

Fallout 2:
-Picking my porn name, I always select Doug Holes, honestly there is no better porn name I can think of.

-Exploring the Sierra Army Depot for the first time; I felt like I was going to be the first person to ever enter it since the war. I was right :)

-Vic fighting with his daughter, and a lot of other Vic conversations.

-Sulik, just Sulik

Cucking Bishop with both his wife and daughter. The other favorite moment was slaughtering all the gangs in new Reno.

Fallout 1 my favorite moment is probably the first encounter with Super Mutants.

Sir Lance-a-lot >

Fallout 1: The glow without a doubt! That is probably the best part when i first played the game.

Fallout 2: Actually not sure? I did love being in Navarro or clearing the military base and this was before playing F1. I did enjoy SAD the first time but it feels like a choore now a days.
I guess clearing out the mine and the Morton brother fight just before i went down there the first time. Was quite hard back then.

Fallout 1: Fighting the Deathclaw and killing the Lt.

Fallout 2: All lot of New Reno. Annoying Renesco, killing the Mob bosses, and "Hey, Lloyd. Catch!"

Fallout 1: When I tricked the gang, that would become the Khans I believe, into thinking I was their dead leader resurrected when they kidnapped Tandy

Fallout 2: First time I saw Frank Horrigan

Well I just finished Fo1, and I only had to reload like three dozen times to get all the Master's dialogue. Finally being able to use big guns was a fun moment. The death animations are weirdly satisfying. Though I didn't notice much of a difference when I finally got Sniper, since they already mostly one hit everything. Unfortunately that included Dogmeat, but I knew he was living on borrowed time. So at least this way he died instantly...when about 40 5mm jhps tore threw his body which summarily exploded. You know, as opposed to slowly dying from all those bloody forcefields? I definitely tried too hard to conserve ammo, so I finished with an absolutely stupid amount of it. Either way everything else just sort of came together around that time when I was in the Hub. Something about it just felt like the zenith of the game. Harold, Loxley, that Far Go traders guy, there were just so many hilarious dialogue options and interesting things to do.

On a different note, is it just me or does power armor make your ass look amazing? Not sure if female characters have a better butt piece, but it was kind of mesmerizing. Like, wearing leather pants is one thing, but a thick layer of metal that makes it look like I'm wearing spanx, that's just magical. I guess there would be room inside, since the gluts change shape a lot when you run, but still...sweet metal booty.

-Vic fighting with his daughter, and a lot of other Vic conversations.
"What's up boss?"
"Would you stop calling me boss?"
"Sure thing chief"
"I mean it stop it!"
"You got it sport!"

Although, one thing I never understood about Vic is why he's one of the only companions who will stick with you no matter what atrocities you commit.

I mean, the vast majority of sapient companions will leave if you earn enough evil karma while they are in your party(Or at least refuse to rejoin your group if you tell them to wait), the only exceptions being Myron(Who is a sociopath who has no problem committing murder and rape), Davin/Mira(Who have basically no personality beyond spouse), and Skynet(Who is basically an intelligent robot).

Vic seems like the odd one out here. Like, yeah I get that he's not exactly the most honest person, and is basically a con artist, but ripping off tribals and committing genocides/trading slaves are two different things, and how a relatively normal guy can tolerate that without blinking an eye comes across as really bizzare.

Doesn't Vic basically get called useless when you meet his daughter?

Maybe he's just really submissive and sees the Chosen One as someone to follow, due to his own weakness?

He does it because he is your slave (if you buy him) or because you saved his life (if you freed him in nay other way). Life debt for the win! :lmao:

For me personally it's meeting the Master you've heard so much throughout the game. And then you get to him and have a talk. You don't straight up start shooting each other, no. You have a polite talk, almost as if both of you were equal. And no heroic speech about the morality of his actions is going to convince him to change his mind. No, you can only win over him with being either a very tough guy or a person, interested in the surroundings and willing to learn as much about the world as possible. And in Fallout 2, my favorite moment was the cinematic of PMV Valdez setting off for the Oil Rig. At least to me, it gave a feeling of "That's it. Everything's been building up to this very moment. Bring it on, we have one last adventure to finish".

FO1: calling Gizmo names
It was funny. I selected the option to make fun of his weight because I just came from Morrowind and had no idea what an RPG with consequences was like. That was sort of the first defining moment of Fallout for me.
Also, killing Lou. It took me three tries and I was watching the death animation thinking "I actually did it? No way!"

FO2: My first chat with Lynette.
I was enchanted with how nice VC looked compared to other towns and initially thought I wanna stay here forever. Then I talked to Lynette. Then I went to Gecko and never looked back.
Also: entering Sierra Army Depot (after dying 20 times from the turrets), the one time I actually cleared the Wannamingo Mine (on my 4th playthrough & with a Bozar), discovering Vault 13 and its deathclaw population, and, finally, shooting Myron in the dick until he died on a random wasteland map in the mountains where his body will never be found.

Fallout 1: Gizmo mess all around his desk, I hated voice acting + dialogs.

Fallout 2: Beating anything with HtH + Slayer. SPECIAL for dumb character, in end game pretty fair intelligent.

Inside Sierra army depot, yay.

Jinxed + 10LK + HtH Evade + Dodger + APA MKII + Unarmed 200+%, win. Even Horrigan has problems, as any other enemies.

Punching Gizmo... I dunno why, but going up to a dude sitting down and just punching him in his face just made me super happy.
