Charisma Fallout 4 SPECIAL video

Well, that was uninformative as fuck. Grats, Bethesda, on your shitty communication skills. You must not have much Charisma. >_>

The last part where bear licks VB's face was funny hehe)) . I don't think these videos were ment to be super informative, they are just a gimmick they made like the ones for Fallout 3. Who needs charisma anyway? 1CH pig ugly chars are the best. At least that's what FOnline taught me xD

I'm honestly curious as to whether the current system has the redeeming feature of "making charisma important" since it really wasn't in Fallout 3, and New Vegas made it slightly better by making Nerve powerful and Animal Friend really useful, it was still a very safe stat to dump.

Let's try and rationalize that. Someone who is a charismatic smooth talker can be a frequent user of addictive substances while still managing to convince themselves and everyone else around them that no problem exists... well, that doesn't cover physical withdrawal symptoms, unless Beth wants to imply denial in effect is mind over matter.

It's slowly becoming a runing gag how they avoid showing anything that has even remotely something to do with dialog. Not mention, your charisma now helps you with addictions ... heh. And it already starts to fall apart. I mean seriously, I would expect that to be a part of endurance, maybe strength, if you want to push it.

This is getting worse. They must have got some idiot to write what each stats do! I mean dealing with drugs? What the fuck!

I don't mind it. Someone who's a mean drunk, probably wouldn't be described as very charismatic. Sure, holding your booze is a physical trait IRL, but it's a game. It makes enough sense.

Not when there are 3 stats dedicated to Physical traits and one of them already controls chems....

They're making an arbitrary distinction between chems and alcohol since the latter is more socially acceptable, like the nonsensical alcohol, drugs and tobaccos. They have differing effects, but more importantly, differing connotations. The kind of drugs we see in Fallout game (Opiates and Amphetamines, primarily) aren't "social" drugs like alcohol. Thus, the distinction makes sense.

As for the fact that they aren't showing any dialogue: I don't remember it too clearly, I was younger, but during the New Vegas promotionals, there was the trailer which was entirely explosion and action, the teaser which was just Victor playing in the sand, the storming of Nelson (again, combat) and some walking around the Strip, only talking to the arms merchant. No expose of plot.

And no, I don't think Fo4 will have a story comparable to NV. Not a fucking chance. But at this stage, the criticism on the lack of story elements is just plain unfair.

How? It's Bethesda and guess what! Same fucking writer for Fallout 3. Remember that story?

And how does the stat that affects having the right stuff with people able to stop drugs. You can't explain that!

No, I agree the story will be bad- but you can't reasonably criticize it based on teh fact that they haven't shown off dialogue when NV didn't either.

No, I agree, that one is retarded. But it's no worse then some other Perks we've had.

They have shown dialogue. And it's bad in my opinion. Never liked the dialogue wheel because it's so limited.

You haven't even seen the dialogue wheel, fully, yet. None of us have seen it. We don't know how many options there will be.

If your Intelligence is a 1, all of the options might be "Durr..." "Gahh..." and "Flurp..."

They recorded a ton of dialogue, so at least wait until the game comes out before you judge all of Charisma based on a funny little cartoon.

I'm not much of a fan of the "wait till it's out to pass judgement, it might be way different than everything they've done so far!" line of reasoning.

Say somebody that I don't know runs up and kicks me in the nuts today for no reason. At that point, I waited to pass judgement until they got to me and got to enjoy the consequences of this.

Tomorrow, I'm not going to wait until he gets within kicking range to decide if he's a danger to me.

Bethesda is a proven nut kicker when it comes to Fallout. They've lost the benefit of the doubt from me due to their previous activities.

Four. And one is average, AND... YOU SPEAK NORMALLY BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR STATS!!!

So it's basically the same as before, except you're resistance to addiction increases with Charisma...

Off-topic, Yao Guai apparently have acidic saliva or some shit? Wha? That entire 'dark humor' setting was terrible. I feel like they went for a desperate route and they boxed themselves into a corner when it came to that scene.
