-Player fights againts some super-mutants, they're pretty weak.
-It seems armors are capable of absorbing whole damage of an attack.
-Player doesn't need to activate chests and such as they're shown automaticaly on the screen if player takes a closer look. During this time game isn't paused so looting is real time.
-Combat and especialy melee feels much much better on par with any FPS.
-Companion Dog move and acts better. It doesn't simply follows the player, guesses his destination and takes the lead.
-Unlike Skyrim you can't pick locks if you don't have the right level of the perk.
-Sound effects of Guns and Lasers are much better.
-It seems when companions take too much damage they start moving idle(looks silly)

Super Mutants relegated to the role of complete pushovers. The master wouldn't have bothered with this crap if the result would have been this! Damn Vault 87...

Why does the laser rifle sound like a conventional one?
Why is the PC tanking so much damage with his face? I see he has some endurance, but god damn it, they can't even harm him!

I knew Fallout 4 will be bad, but I really did not see this coming. I'm genuinely surprised.

This player seems to have it on easy, and the "laser rifle" is a pipe rifle.
 
It looks exactly like AER 9, so it's not a pipe rifle. I'm not talking about the laser musket he uses later on.
 
Yeah, from the looks of it, it's a named laser rifle.

So I dunno if that affects the sound it makes, but it definitely does not sound lasery.
 
It has the same model and animation as the 3/NV laser rifle, no idea how you can mistake that for a pipe rifle.

Also, Mentats seem to just be EXP boosters now. Lame. I am going to bet all drugs that aren't MedX and Psycho are pretty much useless now. And seeing how Stimpaks and RadAway heal on a percentage rather than a set amount that means that they work the same for all builds, regardless of Endurance level.... Amazng game design.

I have very low hopes for Fallout 4's story, but I must say this is somewhat intriguing. Apparently, your baby is useful enough to warrant a pretty persistent looking kidnapping. Either that, or being the "Sole Survivor" means that you're the one who's apparently useful, and they're just going to use your baby to negotiate with you.

I guess that would explain the incentive behind pursuing a main quest in the story. I honestly thought that you were just going to wake up in an empty vault, and then go "Hmmm... I bet Codsworth knows where everyone went"

So, yeah. I'm sure your character's going to act like something happened for maybe 2 seconds and then he's just going to be acting nonchalant and having fun in this world knowing his wife has been shot in the head and his baby's been snatched.

Fair enough, I'm watching half a dozen videos in different placed during work so I'm all over the place.

That one still sounds like a laser gun it just has a pop, sounds better than it used to actually. It's also a special one called the Righteous Authority as well.

I miss my holorifle. It's the only energy weapon I have ever used. Gauss rifle has poor RoF. Plasma can't hit far. Laser is bad with some armors.

Also, it kinda makes sense for a laser "rifle" to sound like that. A short laser pulse like that is going to rapidly heat the air, causing it to expand, just like thunder forms from lightning.
Of course, Fallout's usually more pulpy when it comes to physics, so the "electrical" scifi sound was cool like that, but the new sound is ok, too.
I wonder if they added some more classic weapons this time around. While I do like the F3 laser rifle, the Wattz 2000 was just as awesome. Also, Winchester City Killer. Don't make me wait for the modders to make one.
 
How are the elevators working in a civilian building? It made sense for underground ones that presumably had backup generators with the same micro-reactor tech that runs power armor, but a normal skyscraper?

But this kind of reasoning falls face first when you look how destroyed everything is...
So much for consistency in Beth games.
 
I guess the laser rifle makes wubstep sounds to remind you it's energy from the new "pop" sound it makes?
 
I wonder when the story and ending will be spoiled. I am really looking forward to see if it meets my extremely low and to see how much I predicted is in the game in terms of its plot.

Accidentally read some plot spoilers from some clown on the fo4 reddit board, but stopped myself when I realized what it was. No idea if it's legit or not.

I don't know how to put in spoiler tags, or if this site has any, so here's the following which is an (alleged) MAJOR spoiler for plot:










your wife is dying, and IIRC something about you being an android. Maybe the real you died in the war, and she had you remade as a synth. Dunno at that point, just speculating.

Either way the story will hold few surprises. I wouldn't be surprised if you fight your mutated son as the last boss for the feels. Bonus points for talking him into killing himself.
