Massive detonation in Yemen

Gonzalez

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
The theories go from a small nuclear detonation, a neutron bomb, a MOAB to it just being the detonation of an overpopulated munitions/bombs depot. I still couldn't find one single explanation in which that everyone agrees on. Any ideas?

That's not a nuclear detonation. Even the smallest nuclear weapon is still in the range of 6 to 10 Kt. But it's definetly not a neutron bomb.

So, apparently this is REALLY old and I just found out. Thanks Facebook, you suck. Could at least told me this happened ages ago.

Its okay Gonz, FWIW the Saudis have been bombing a lot in Northern Yemen and against Houthi controlled areas. A friend of mine even showed that footage with a similar claim awhile ago.

I'm bothered by the ammount of run-with-premise videos about this explosion, youtube-scientists reading into the video "It IS - a nuclear bomb!"
This thread title is an example of the caution needed in this kind if situation - "massive detonation", no more, no less, then explain what the hypotheses are among other observers

slapping the title "neutron bomb!!!" and voiceovering "this is - - - a nuclear explosion - - by israel!" is as irresponsible as I'd expect youtube-political videos to be. What an annoying era we have entered, not just marred by gvt misinformation, but a whole venue of news, documentaries and articles, by complete and utter buffoons.

How did it come to this... :(

Well, should be obvious from the start:
First you have smoke indicating a fire. It is unclear from the vid what started it, but let's assume bombing or accident.
Then you have a large fire breaking out.
Moments later you have detonation on the ground at the flame. While large, it's nowhere near nuke yield.

From the start, it looks perfectly consistent with an arms cache going up in flames. There's a gazillion similar vids out there where munitions factories, bunkers, etc go up the same way.
That said, keep in mind that explosions of badly segmented fertilizer factories look farely similar. :)

Maybe a satchel nuke? Dirty bomb? Little nukey?
Why would any of these first cause a fire before detonating?
