Chris Avellone and his Prey.

Hmm... I'm somewhat elated by Chris Avellone's involvement in the new Prey game (they did mention that they wanted to explore ideas surrounding psychology if I recall correctly and Chris Avellone may be able to do something with that). But I'm not sure if it would be enough to make it great (and I'm not sure what is the extent of his involvement with Prey).

I don't know how to feel about this.
Could possibly be a REALLY good thing to be excited about.
Could be a fucking HORRIBLE thing to be worried about.

He's probably doing something similiar to what he did with all those strechgoal whoring projects. Which means: not much. The game sounds like shit... I mean first person scifi action game, doubt MCA's Midas' touch will be enough to turn it gold.

I can't name them all. Wasteland 2, T:ToN, Faster than Light, D:OS 2 (I might mention PoE too despite him being employed there at the time since apparently his work there got tampered with to some extent). There's probably more. He's been more of a hired help than a real influence as far as I know.

I just hope he's not held down by cutting stuff he made for them. Reading up many discussion related to him on the Codex, I found that he's been basically what Kohno mentioned here: stretch goals whoring, somewhat a money-bait, where he's told to only just stand there, occasionally write, only to have his work thrown away.

I think it's a bit unfair to say he's only good as a stretch goal and does nothing. He wrote the Ag Center portion of Wasteland 2 and it was great.

Jeez let the guy do whatever work he wants. If he's part of a project that we ultimately don't like the end results of, sure, criticise that. But the guy can do what he wants. He's not holden to any of us.

not enough to convince me to save them :P

and after that, its is done. the gold, basically after you left arizona all the narrative is just predictable and washed again

i think people here just worried that CA is just used as marketing gimmick.

What I meant to say was that it is unfortunate that these sorts of little touches are the only thing he's been doing, and that those little touches might not be able to put this new Prey game to any pedestal.

Considering what he's said in interviews, he seems to take the jobs he wants to and there's no lack of offers. If people use him as a marketing gimmick, that's not exactly his fault. I'm sure he values his own skills and time more than so.

In case you were referring to what I said; I'm not blaming him, it's just unfortunate that he hasn't had the chance for a bigger role.
