First time out of the vault
Anybody else miss that sense of wonder when you first step out of Vault 111 for the first time at the beginning of Fallout 4?

I really did, so I got my non-gamer girlfriend to play through the game without any prep or previous knowledge of the Fallout universe. We've only done a couple of episodes so far, but we're going to play through until the end (whatever that means!), dropping a new episode every week. I've been filming her playthrough and her reactions to it, and uploading it to my YouTube channel. Honestly, the reaction she had to her first encounter with a radroach was hilarious! If you want to relive the feeling of first setting foot in The Commonwealth - give it a try and see if it rekindles the magic for you!

Good Luck with your project.
There is big competition for youtubers\streamers on AAA games.
If you are also into post-apocalyptic indies, you will get a lot of love on NMA.

No. I didn't have a sense of wonder when I left Vault 101 either. It's a good moment. At that point I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or not, but I was generally excited to play a new Fallout game. Overall it ended up being a let down, and I never want to repeat that. So I suppose my answer is also 'fuck no'.

Yes and no.

The fo3 is by no means perfect, but the fact that you spend a lot of time in the vault (if you are not trying to rush things and make the most of it), means that when you finally leave it, seeing the sun for the first time in a while actually mean something. And those first few seconds of sunbathing can be memorable, especially on first playthrough (i do prefer when it happened in half life). And it actually worked for me, but only for a couple of seconds\minutes.

I the first area right outside the vault, you can already dispatch a dozen of hardened raiders (you are a sheltered teenager who never saw the sun), and have a casual chat with a prostitute. And then, at 5 minutes walking distance, you have one of the biggest settlement of the entire gameworld. So, ultimately, you aren't amazed that long. They could have either have you wander a much longer time before you see your first wasteland human soul, or contrived a way to have you wake up in the middle of a settlement, with a couple of npc dumping you a truckload of exposition.

Instead, you go from "i never saw the outside world" to "i am a full part of it" and even "i am writing a fucking guide about it" in a matter of minutes.
