Yeah, I get what you mean. The system is better off for 1v1, and that is if your opponent's stats more or less comparable to Henry's. I'm not bothered by the lack of gore and decapitation.
You didn't ask me, but I'm gonna put my two-cents in on KCD anyways cause I both love and hate the game. The love comes from the fact that I enjoy the early-game difficulty, and actually enjoy the combat quite a lot. My hate comes from the fact that you CAN just poke people to death if you do it right, this really being the easiest way to make it through the early game.
@AureliusofPhoenix Ah so you notice..well lets just say that there's growing interest in this website again. Let's just say i rediscovered my cynism for gaming industry again. Lol.
@AureliusofPhoenix if what you meant with 'if you do it right, being the easiest way to make it through the early game' is by cheesing the AI, then I have to say I can't agree with the your hating of the game.
@eissa you're implying being non-cynical means you wouldn't even open this site or the Codex at all. Codex's rating of 'Fabulously Optimistic' is something, you know?
I mean, I meant more just spamming the stab button (r1 on PS4). There’s really no way to fuck it up. But like I said, I truly do love KCD. It’s just that poking being more effective than actual swordplay, imo, is a major flaw.
@AureliusofPhoenix if it's mid to late game, obviously there's no to fuck it up. But early game, Henry is still a literal peasant who knows jackshit about swordplay, and thus you're more likely to get perfect blocked all the time (which is disappointingly can be performed by even peasant-tier bandits).
Also, RPG Codex are neither "meh" or a hell hole. If anything, it's what NMA will be like, IF NMA goes beyond discussing about only Fallout and anything post-apocalyptic. I personally credit RPG Codex for opening up this wonderful world of role-playing games that I could never dream of finding on my own.
@Black Angel I got a gaming community forum that positive enough that i will not hear unnecessary profanity and pretentious jerkness. I don't need to being part of close minded community that although offer some great taste of niche rpg title, make me can't enjoy modern titles which while not perfect is not exactly what they called turd and other ill names.
Beside i gain more by joing scifi/fantasy writing forum that offer great quest roleplay fanfic than RPG Codex ever offer to me. Never really like being convinced to hate something either, unless i try it myself and form my own choice and reasoning.
I am not even sure how i got into this site either in the first place, probably because of my dislike of fallout 4 and try to compare it to the greatness of other games.
@Black Angel Also what @AureliusofPhoenix mean is 'skirmishing' your opponent by spamming poke and running is way more effective than memorizing entire combo combination to counter every opponent moves. And also master strike every time you successfully parrying. I hope in the future there will be elite enemies that force you to use combo more often.
@eissa I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that the Codex "convinced to hate something either, unless i try it myself and form my own choice and reasoning." If anything, it's by mingling with the Codex that I learn I had to definitely form my own choice and reasoning. It was thanks to NMA and Codex that I 'refined' my taste to this point.
Also, I wouldn't attribute the fact that the Codex introduction to great niche titles is what leads you to unable to enjoy modern titles. It's *precisely* because of how great those niche titles are, more often they're really old than not, makes the modern titles feels like they don't achieve anything significant. Maybe that's not exactly what you felt, though
