V.A.T.S. is NOT a combat system

As opposed to the old assisted targeting where you kill somebody/something and don't take any damage cause he/she/it is dead when its turn comes ?! I felt quite a satisfaction when first taking damage in VATS, it's was "damn this ain't turn based anymore".

Something to think about. A few words about Fallout 3 .

It's because it uses the HL2 engine witch has a special face animation-matrix technology. Valve used some research made about face muscles when building their Source engine. They joked that unless it's Jim Carrey they got all face animation/movements/expressions covered.

Something to think about. A few words about Fallout 3 .

Navarro run (power armor and SF BoS loot) + sneak = I've killed basically the entire population of New Reno minus children; accidentally shot a child tough. It takes a lot of saves and reloads but after that you feel like a god. Can't do that in F3 as you need the power armor perk and...

What did Bethesda actually do better than Black Isle?

If you talk about F1 I might agree to some level, but F2 ?! Also in F1/F2 you could skip the main quest (it's ladder) even more that in F3. You could marry a virtual wife and have a virtual dog follow you about in F1/F2. F2 pioneered gay/lesbian marriage, and also you could sell you other...

Bummed out about Big Town [possible spoiler]

That was cool, but if you killed some of the characters the game crashed. Also in 1950s mindset I don't think a gay/lesbian marriage would be considered OK. It was cool though.

It's not a baaad game, but i really hate it.

Dialogs are based of checks. To have more/different/interesting dialog lines you need different character stats-skills-perks-karma; also you may need to learn something from a person (like rumors) and/or find some information (form a computer terminal, holodisk). It can make a big...

It's not a baaad game, but i really hate it.

    > ^ Cities such as New Reno, Vault City, NCR, even San Francisco to a certain degree, in Fallout 2 and all their factions (like the mafia families), characters, quests, intrigue and some of their weapons where considered campy mistakes, outside the canon and lore of Fallout 1. Both...

NMA article: My Fallout 3 adventures!

What I miss from the old games are: - multiple firing/melee/fighting modes - weapon upgrades (or I haven't found them yet) - (world) map travel system - the Chrysalis Highwaymen - marriage and being able to selling spouse to slavers (I know you can still capture and sell people)...

NMA article: My Fallout 3 adventures!

I didn't have a problem shooting Burke (sniper rifle, "later" in the game), and Burke never tried to shoot Simms in my game. Also "Megaton is conveniently located within 5 minutes walking distance" because it was started as trading camp for those wishing to trade with the Vault 101, and...

    Enemy AI

    > ^ I fully agree. On the other hand, would anyone expect a feral goul to do military advanced flanking and such ?!

    The MIRV - spoiler

True but they could have bought the geo-mod 2/3 engine. Beth did bought the Unreal 3 engine.

    The MIRV - spoiler

Like when you where shooting rockets into an enclave soldier, he blows up but his buddy near him doesn't have a scratch in Fallout 2 ?! How about the alien blaster run in Fallout 1 or power armor run in Fallout 2 ?! At least in F3 you need the power armor perk and also you get an agility...

Suggestions : Make a real Fallout 3 without the mythos?

    Did you all forget..

Yes, there's a lot more complexity as opposed to an isometric game from 10/11 years ago.

    Did you all forget..

Read above statements on supermutants and BoS. Really ?! Fallout 1 = Wasteland for the 90s Fallout 2 = Wasteland for the 90s 1.5 meets Fountain of Dreams Interplay has described Fallout as the spiritual successor to Wasteland, and many of those Fallout 1/2 elements actually...

Much bigger and more complex game and did better then Fable II and Gothic 3 witch the only contemporary games comparable. But blind fanaticism is blind fanaticism.

    Did you all forget..

East Coast super mutants are a different strain than the West Coast super mutants. They were developed in Vault 87 as part of the Vault Experiment. Vault 87 was flooded with a slightly different version of FEV than from Mariposa. That explains where the Capital Wasteland super mutants come from...

What are NPCs really good for?

What are NPCs really good for ? Shooting you in the back and/or getting in the line fire in F1 and F2. In F3 at least they can help you carry more stuff and be a quite decent in taking out enemies, with Dogmeat bringing you stuff. But there's no squad control like in Mass Effect PC or...

Full Apology: Total Reversal On Earlier Praise

"OK, fine, set the East Coast in that primitive world...but does it have to be so barren? Realism is one thing, but I play games for fun, and there are so many opportunities for fun that Bethesda didn't take up that it just ends up being depressing. It is mind boggling how far they were from...
