I have the same problem with the choppy ending..luckily I played this game a lot in the past. But to answer your question, the ending depends on what quests you completed during the gameplay. e.g. Did you kill Metzeger or leave him to take over the Den?

My only guess is that it suggests civilization. I mean, there is sure to be lots of abandon buildings post-apocalypse, but if you see a building with a car on a post it kinda symbols "PEOPLE ARE HERE!". Pre-apocalypse there would be no real practicle reason to put a car on a poll, so its like...

I'm assuming your weapon profeciancy is big guns? Big guns are fairly hard to get ammo for. The zenith of big guns is the Vindicator minigun, but this is extremely hard to get the 4.7mm caseless ammo for it, and the gun itself guzzles ammo. I'd suggest the Avenger Minigun which can be found...

I'm not sure where the best place to buy ammo is, but SanFransico and Buster in NCR are the first places I would look. Also, you should know that money is not an important part of the gameplay in Fallout 2. And yes, you can get the Alien Blaster in Fallout 2.. I wouldn't reccomend it though...
