Fallout 2 Ammo Misc Help

Hi

Im new here and im also new to fallout. i only recently managed to get into it after some friends recommended it to me, but im having some trouble right now. I cant seem to find a good place to buy some decent ammo or be able to sell my weapons for good cash in fallout 2, mainly because most of the sellers only have $300 max. can anyone give me some tips please, thanks :)

at the moment ive travelled to almost everywhere, i have the advanced power armor and i think theres only 2 places i haven't found yet. i really need some .223 ammo for my bozar but i cant find anywhere to buy some and the bozar eats up rounds like a bitch :P. also is the alien blaster in fallout 2?
 
I'm not sure where the best place to buy ammo is, but SanFransico and Buster in NCR are the first places I would look. Also, you should know that money is not an important part of the gameplay in Fallout 2.

And yes, you can get the Alien Blaster in Fallout 2.. I wouldn't reccomend it though; the Pulse Pistol is just a better version of it. If you still want to know how to get it you get it in a random encounter with one of the traders or at the end of the game on the Navarro oil rig there is a maze of computers. I THINK if you have speech skill over 100%, and use the repair skill on the one particular computer(it changes in every game..at least every time ive played through the game its been a different one) it will give you an alien blaster. Save before you do so, because there are other things you can get depending on your skills and if you have multiple skills that meet the requirement it will pick a random one.

I'm sure that was really confusing so feel free to ask me anything else
 
well im at a critical point in the game, where i can pretty much do anything and ammo is rediculously hard to come by. i know you dont need money but i just need some place that will allow me to get some decent ammo. the best weapon i have at the moment is the bozor and that eats up ammo badly, i cant seem to find a place that sells the ammo required for it which is the .223 FMJ.

can you suggest me a better or equal weapon to that and is easy to get ammo for?
 
I'm assuming your weapon profeciancy is big guns? Big guns are fairly hard to get ammo for. The zenith of big guns is the Vindicator minigun, but this is extremely hard to get the 4.7mm caseless ammo for it, and the gun itself guzzles ammo. I'd suggest the Avenger Minigun which can be found at Buster's at NCR. The 5mmJHP is much easier to find, especially in San Francisco.
 
You may want to try the M60 (you can chiefly find it in random encounters with claim jumpers near Redding) which uses fairly popular 7.62 ammo.

To get the alien blaster you need to have a tagged Speech, above 100% and no non-weapon skill which is listed above Speech in the character screen (e.g. Doctor, but not Gambling) may be greater than 100% and tagged. Then try repairing the terminals in the maze, prizes vary with skills, Speech skill corresponds to Alien Blaster
 
Just train up on energy weapons and get a Pulse rifle or plasma gun, heaps of ammo and big damage
 
I agree with using energy weapons, there's tons of cells around the game. But always keep an armor piercing conventional weapon handy, just in case. The Bozar works very well, but I always used the .44 magnum.
 
If you're going for small arms anyway, why not the Gauss Rifle? It's great to have this baby in one hand and a pulse weapon in the other...

I realize this is a very old post however I had the same question as the opening post and none of these responses seemed to address the question. This is where google led me. I finally found a working answer should someone else have the same question regarding where to find .223 ammunition in Fallout 2. So far what has worked for me is the little vendor in the tent at the Bazaar in NCR. He does not always have .223 ammo on him but if you keep asking him he eventually stocks it (it may take a dozen attempts. Keep trying)...also using the pip to wait a day and asking him again also brought results.
