So if Caesar had won, what would happen next?

IDK about calling these "Bad Luck Rolls" - Most of these are either the Chickens coming home to roost for the NCR, or the result of active planning from the Legion -The NCR's leadership being filled with psychotic glory hounds is portrayed as a structural issue, not an accidental one - Kimball...

It's very clearly rushed and so they couldn't flesh out locations or NPCs much, but for the last major town in the game, it feels extremely anticlimactic.

I actually don't mind it being reference heavy and pop-culturey What I dislike is how barren it is. -You have the Kung Fu sideplot, you have the Shi VS Hubologists, and that's kinda it. -The Docks is a huge area, with warehouses, homes, a beach with fishermen, but no NPCs to talk to -On the...

New Blood Interactive hints at something very Fallout-esque

Having looked through the thread, it looks pretty cool, and I like the Retrofuturism. It feels like real Jetsons style, which I think that would be a good contrast with the destitution and seediness that you'll inevitably be wading through. If they wanted to mimic the original Fallout Games...

    I'm tired man.

I'm currently replaying Fallout 2, but once I'm done, I'm going to go look at the mods, to see where I can get that classic Fallout experience. I already played Fallout 1.5 Ressurection ages ago, I think back in 2016 even, so maybe I'll replay that, but I'm going to look at Sonora or Nevada first.

    I'm tired man.

I think it's kinda inevitable. Media isn't made to be complete works anymore, it's made for continuity, but the thing is, the more things go on for, the longer they will start to resemble something completely different. Bethesda made massive changes to the world, engine straight off the bat so...

New Vegas/Van Buren continuity - Which do you prefer? How would we merge them?

See, originally I agreed with him on the Restoration Project in that I thought a lot of the locations were cut for a reason, but having replayed again recently, I've come round to it a lot more. I think the Abbey is a decent quest hub, I like Father Tully having a bit of a backstory, and it...

Commie Ghost? Aliens? Moth-man? -A Fallout Conspiracy Discussion

Have you heard of Wannamingos? They're the single orneriest critter there is. Tall as two men, stronger than a bull brahmin, and with flappin' suckers instead of arms. Can't be hurt with guns, neither. S'posedly, injuns called 'em up for revenge on the white-man for what the war did. I don't put...

New Vegas/Van Buren continuity - Which do you prefer? How would we merge them?

I find it strange that, to the best of my knowledge, there are no mods adding Vipers or Jackals into Fallout 1. Like the Restoration Project adds the EPA, something that previously only existed in design documents. Some modders are trying to recreate Van Buren as faithfully as possible, some...

New Vegas/Van Buren continuity - Which do you prefer? How would we merge them?

I don't buy that it's possible to just handwave away the contradictions that easily. Like Joshua Graham having two separate executions and returning from the dead twice just seems to defeat the point of him as a character. Like, the whole point of the concept is that he's this revenant-like...

    I'm tired man.

I disagree that it's "Out of the way" - Like the Chess Playing Scorpion, you just wander into a building and talk to a guy. Seymour the talking spore plant is also right out in the field, openly saying "Pssst over here,I got something to say to you" on a loop until you talk to him. But yeah, I...

New Vegas/Van Buren continuity - Which do you prefer? How would we merge them?

I get why New Vegas did this - Having Hoover Dam be more of a blank slate location, allows it to act a lot more as a representation of the larger conflict. It being straight up just a source of water and power makes it clear why control of it is so important, in a way that a fleshed out Hoover...

    I'm tired man.

The favorite one I've seen recently is "Well they changed the location of Shady Sands in Fallout 2" - Apparently referencing the fact that there's less distance between NCR and Vaults 13/15, it's on slightly different terrain, and if you try to overlay the maps of the two games the locations...

New Vegas/Van Buren continuity - Which do you prefer? How would we merge them?

So disclaimer before I begin: I have not played Fallout Yesterday yet, I haven't had the time, and I am waiting until it's mostly complete before I try. However, my understanding of it is that it operates in the original Van Buren continuity, and tries to recreate it as faithfully as possible...

    Best Fallout? - Game Discussion

At least one of the families (The Mordinos) is effectively a newcomer family. There's very little sense that any of the families have a definitive history in New Reno, and by the time of New Vegas they're all switched out. I think there are solutions to the New Reno Families but "Give them a...

    Best Fallout? - Game Discussion

San Francisco honestly evokes more mixed feelings in me than any other part of the game. Because conceptually I like the Shi, I think they're a really cool concept. The idea of a group of Chinese naval officers helping rebuild San Francisco after the war is really good. It's kinda like the same...

Long live the fallout universe. Long live fallout tactics.

People complain that Fallout Tactics isn't retrofuturistic, but it in fact is. It's a game set in the future, but instead of the future as we imagine it, it's how people in the early 2000s imagined it :smug:

    Rewrite vault 87

Honestly, if we went down the "Removing this would be a better option" pipeline for Fallout 3 - We'd end up having to remove practically every single inhabited town and NPC from the game :smug: I always felt it was a shame we don't see new Mutant types like this in Fallout, and instead see...
