A new Fallout game... by Obsidian?

The whole thing is exactly the same as what Activision has done with Call of Duty. Each Call of Duty takes 2 years to make. By having Infinity Ward and Treyarch make independent games they can release a Call of Duty game every November.

Now you have Bethesda which takes over 2 years to put a game out. So with two big series IP ZeniMax either had to expand Besthesda RPG division into two teams or farm one of the IPs to an external studio.

If New Vegas is successful I fully expect Bethesda to be just the Elder Scroll farm and Fallout to go over to Obsidian or another external studio for all future Fallout games.
 
I'm really hoping that Beth goes back to ES, and gives Fallout to Obsidian, but I doubt that will happen, they're having them make New Vegas to silence the original Fallout Fans and to give the Fallout 3 fans something to hold them over until Fallout 4

I really hope its not Glorified DLC.

Civ 4 uses the Gamebryo, the real problem is that it uses the Fallout 3 rendition of the Oblivion rendition of the Gamebryo engine.
 
Nice now that Obsidian does not have to deal with Lucasarts. With their: "Everything must be done by this date or it's over with."

Now with Bioware giving it's NWN stuff to Obsidian. It's been great.

Looks like Obsidian is going to have a bright future. Just don't let them get involved with Lucas Arts.

I have learnt not to get hyped any more, but this was VERY unexpected.

I cant see them making two games with very similar gameplay in the same setting, with another studio.... so maybe this will be the RPG version instead of the FPS version of fallout 3.

well Depends how much access Obsidian gets to the engine. If they are allowed to tweak some things no one is saying they could not work on a better third persno perspective.

That would be one of the main reasons to buy or not buy the game. Seriously something that made me really sick in F3 when I had the chance to play it was the absolutely awfull third person perspective almost a copy paste work from Craplivion.
 
Hope is all I have. And they will NEVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME! EVER!!!

So yes, Im excited. The only downside is that it will use the already dated gambryo engine, which im not a fan.

Will be beautiful if they get it right though. Will just show how pathetic Beth was in their attempt.

Lets hope for the best.
