Good stuff. Been poking around for an hour or two.
My Spear+Shield build was a lot more effective than my Dagger+Dodge.
Gonna go as far as I can with that and maybe try hammers or axes next.
I hope they implement re-mappable keys, my middle mouse button is pretty screwy, so turning the camera around to get out of the arena is a bitch. Needs keyboard camera control. (if it hasn't got it already. didn't check )

I just thought I would post that here since the announcement news post is soon to be buried in the archives. I've come to enjoy the combat demo, which is saying something because although the 3D graphics are definitely impressive, the demo is still a little rough around the edges, and the combat is pretty brutal in both difficulty and complexity. Combat is way more complex than Fallout combat where your turn is your turn and it is impossible to get attacked during it (unless you count being attacked by your own critical failures or your usage of a rocket launcher at close range).
In the combat demo you will be attacked for taking a step back away from your opponent if you are within their melee weapons range. Also an opponent wielding a spear gets a chance at preventing your advance toward him once you are in range. Furthermore an opponent get a chance for a counter-attack when he successfully dodges or blocks your attack. The good news is that you get all these same bonus attack possibilities if you know how to utilize them.
Once I spent some time to figure out the nuances of the combat in this demo, I really liked it. Very complex. I think my favorite bit is the fact that your character doesn't ever gain hit points. You are as tough as you are, and that's it.
The only problem I had was when I killed a guy and his body landed exactly on top of another body. I could get the inventory from the body underneath.
