Killap, I tried sending you an email regarding the msg files- but it got sent back saying it couldn't go through. Is there a problem on your end?

Shit, stuff is being sent back...damnit (means the sever is overflowing with e-mail). Well, yeah I was having internet problems and only today got them sorted out. I am still without e-mail and won't get that back until a day or so. If you need to speak with me, do so through pm for the time being.

EDIT:
I am back up with e-mail and internet access. Please resend the message.

killap, you could use gmail account - it shouldn't become trashed too soon ;)
I actually do have a g-mail account but I stopped accessing it. I should probably have used it for my Fallout work since if my sever goes down, I lose access to all my mail (despite having internet access)

I got a mail from someone regarding the SF-shop-items-disappearing bug, and he confirmed that the bug only affected that map, and that item spawning still worked elsewhere. (Believe it or not, it's the first time someone has actually told me that.) This leads me to think the problem must have something to do with the shop containers or pointers on the first SF map. Could it be that under some rare or random circumstances they become permanently junked? Is that something you've investigated already?

Interesting. I had written it off as a random bug and never delved into looking. I shall add this to my list then.

My problem

Well I have been experiencing a problem and have no real idea if it is my compie or what but here goes

I'm running XP Home edition with an Nvidea 7600 graphics card and have installed "killap's Patch release Final A (US)" and everything was working great, it fixed my speed/random encounter problem made the game crash less (or so I thought) and what not until I made it to the NCR. Any time I try to enter the NCR be it on foot or in the car, no matter what, the game immediately crashes, Illegal operation and all, usually forcing me to restart my compie because while the program is no longer responding it still won't close (at all :x ) I've got no idea what I can do to fix this problem and would appreciate any help that can be offered

Hmm...Is this the first time entering NCR? Can you send a save game to the address found in the readme of my patch?

fixed problem

It appears that my brother had uninstalled and reinstalled the game recently and hadn't uninstalled the patch000.dat before installing your patch. I didn't notice at the time because I was starting a new game anyway and so I didn't have a load game messup. I only actually noticed this when I was going in to grab my save game for you, anyhow the problem is solved and I'm sorry for any inconvience that I may have caused.

Found one bug in Arroyo :
- Hakunin don't forget to be mad at me when i am rude with him and ask me to kill the evil plants in his garden to purify my soul. But when i come back, after completed this quest, i have only two dialog choices and no reward at all.

Maybe it's not a bug but a normal behavior ?

What are these dialog choices? I guess the role of thumb is don't expect a reward if you act like ass?

A couple of small bugs (possibly):
Unable to sell the Gieger Counter to any merchant, even though it displays a value.

Sometimes when lockpicking a door it will say you failed when the door has actually been unlocked. (this may have something to do with using the lockpick set - not sure)

Any geiger counter? Any merchant? Can you send me a save game?

Does it say the word "failure" or does it say something along the lines of "this does nothing"

P.S. I got your e-mail. I shall experiment with your ammo patch and make it an optional installation in my patch. I hope to use an installer for the next release.

Make sense even if i have expecting a way to be forgiven by Hakunin. Dialog choices are :

Code:
Hakunin : You may bear the mantle of the Chosen, but your dark soul cries from within.
Me : I beg your forgiveness, holy one. How can I cleanse my soul?
Hakunin : Cleanse your soul as you would banish demons from my garden. // Already done by me
Me : I kinda like my soul the way it is. Bye. // Choice 1
I'm not worthy. I'll take my leave now. // Choice 2

I couldn't tell him that i have already " clean my soul ". But it's just a little point i guess. Anyway, thanks for your patch, i am discovering again fallout as it should have been done.

@killap

The geiger counter from the vault city court yard (building directly across from the pen), and yes any merchant.

And yes it said "fails to do anything" (I believe, definitely not "this does nothing").

Sorry, don't have a saved game to send.

And thanks for reviewing my mod; after trying so many code variations, this version seems to keep the essence of the game and make the subtle adjustments necessary to fix the issues.

Heya, guys

My game crashes everytime I try to enter NCR. Just get that win-error sound and have to alt+tab to the error window. It says something about reaching a breakpoint. While searching this forum I saw someone having the same (?) problem but with Vault City and Den.
So is there a fix for this? guess it is a map bug.
I have the us version with 1.02 patch + killap patch A

I just mentioned that out of the blue (Per's Guide). I just thought you, as the most experienced Fallout 2 player, know what's probably the best and most moderate (and interesting) character(istics). Perhaps one of your own? Could you please reveal its statistics?
Oh I don't know. I haven't actually played through the game in several years now. All I have been doing is modding it and playing segments to test for bugs. :D From my actual game plays though, I usually play a high speech, high science character.

SorgFall said:
Another question - does your readme (patch) file include the fixes of the official patch - because it seems it doesn't, and it does include it. Also, where's the B version in the downloads section - it seems missing.
No, but I am pretty sure I include the 1.02 readme. If not, I probably should. Does it? As for version B, that is for those who have 1.02 included in the master.dat file. This is a rare case and almost no one needs to worry about it. The file is in the downloads section but just fell off onto the last page of it.

SorgFall said:
Too bad. Well, I won't touch F2 before I complete F1, and I won't touch it before a good patch comes out. So I shouldn't play Fallout for at least a season or so, right?
Actually, the 1.3.1 patch is pretty good. I suggest using it for F1. Its the best your going to get for a LONG time probably.

SorgFall said:
Also what is that B-Team mode that's mentioned in your signature frequently?
It is the appearance mod. All NPCs that follow you will change appearance depending on what type of armor they wear. This was a popular mod and I just made it compatible with my patch.

Sorry for all the many questions. Cheers!
No problem. I am not at home and thus browsing the web instead of working. 8-)

And yet the first Fallout game is supposed to be better and more popular than it's sequel.

That's very odd. Everyone just wants to fix F2. And besides, do you not think that Project Van Buren will be relieved?

Is there a patch000.dat file in your main Fallout 2 directory? If so, delete it.

Possibly Fo1 is just slightly more popular in you only count the hardcore fandom, but not among the general populace. I get maybe 25 mails on my Fo2 guide for every one about Fo1. In fact I get almost as many about Wasteland.

If you mean someone will make the whole game according to the design docs, no chance.

Thanks for answering so fast!
After removeing the patch000.dat file I couldnt load my savegames anymore. After moveing it back to the Fallout2 dir the savegames worked again, but I still couldnt enter NCR.
Here is some more info : When I installed the game for the first time under WinXP I couldnt run it by dbl clicking the exe file (even with compatib. mode set to Win95 or Win98) Only way I managed to run it was by selecting Run as -> Run as current user. And even then I couldnt save or load games. Only after installing the original patch AND your patch it worked. So I guess my installation is buggy. Tried reinstalling the game couple of times too (and cleaning the registry)
Any ideas?
Thanks for the help!
