Anyone here watch Falling Skies?

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
It's quite a good show that just ended it's first season. So far it is my favorite American show playing nowadays besides Rescue Me.

Anyone else watch it?

I watched the first 15-minutes of the first episode and another episode later on in the season. I haven't really gotten into it, but I haven't stopped giving it a chance either. I expect I'll watch it again at some point.

I'm a bit bored with aliens invading earth. That premise needs to rest on the shelf for a while, I think.

This thing is like the Homefront of TV shows. Only worse.

Within the first 20 seconds of the first episode I knew it was going to be terrible, because they started putting grown-up terms in children's mouths to accomplish "efficient" telling of the show's premise.

The only other time I knew it this fast, was with "Lady In The Water".

I've watched it, and liked. Haters can hate all they wish, the show is entertaining (and entertainment is all that matters in a TV show, imo).

I found the first few episodes entertaining, but towards the end it just danced around this major plot concept and never really went forward. This show had some major filler issues and getting rid of the doctor in such a brief moment was a mistake. Past that point the show went sorta down hill. The season finale was a bit of a miss. Still, a lot of shows don't get into their groove at the first season, so I'm still hopeful.

And at least it's trying to stand out in an age of sitcoms and crime shows. So far, this year has produced some fairly entertaining shows. Not to go off topic here, but people should really check out Alphas. Sure it's the same concept of X-Men except with the government, but I like how the heroes are just everyday people. It has this really low budget independent style of cinematography that I completely dig too. And Gary is probably one of the best, most clever characters I've seen in a show, ever.

I think it's doing something new with the idea. Instead of it being Earth vs the flying saucers it's about a mujihadeen style guerrilla war. That alone mad it innovative in my eyes

Never saw V (especially the old one from the 80s), I take it? Reminds me quite a bit of V.

Like others who have posted I didn't like the beginning of the show, but I watched it again last night, and I don't hate it. I've warmed to it, and I'm still willing to give it more time. The key is going to be a strong and original second season. It'll sink or swim on that basis.

No I never saw V. Is it good?

And yeah the Second season will make or break this show.

Well, the original V from the 80s was a big hit at the time. I haven't watched it in a long, long while, so I can't say whether or not it holds up. I watched a few episodes of the new V, and thought it was okay but not great. Slicker, better looking actors, CGI...but missing the spirit I remembered from the old show.

Falling Skies got a lot better in the final episodes, but I agree that the first and second episodes doesn't give a good impression.

V was nice too. Not great, but quite entertaining.

[spoiler:8b2189c7b3]The last Falling Skies episode I watched was about how the humans found a way to make bullets that could penetrate the alien armor, and it made me remember how that was a big deal in V too (the original series, that is). The Visitors had bullet-proof armor, but then the resistance fighters figured out a way to make bullets that could penetrate it.[/spoiler:8b2189c7b3]

Falling Skies is horrible, as was V the first and V the 2nd...

Alsoplustoo - both battlestar galacticas stunk.

Do you have an aversion to sci-fi television in general? Did you hate Firefly as well, by chance?

I love scifi TV but I agree with him. V (both of 'em) were kinda acceptable, but just didn't motivate me, the first BG didn't get to me at all and I loathe the second.
Firefly is awesome, though.

I liked the first BG when I was a kid and still find it fun. The second BG was appalling. It made all the mistakes of the lousy contemporary soft sci-fi; most notably taking a kids' show and trying to turn it into a serious drama.

Comparing Firefly to the likes of V, BSG, and Falling Skies?

Loved Firefly, but then, it was good.
