Bar Fights

Dule

First time out of the vault
I would like to be able to get into bar fights in Fallout 3. You know, go up to someone, piss them off, then go into hand to hand combat. You dont have to kill them, maybe they could just be knocked out or something, and then maybe loot them. If you were to pull out a gun or something, maybe the bartender could threaten you, or shoot you (Like in the bar in Junktown in FO1, just not scripted this time)

Anyways that's just something I would like :D

Yeah being able to get into a barfight in a post-apocolyptic world seems feasable. Of course, everytime I tried it in Fallout 1 and 2 it led to just about the entire town rushing in like the Cavalry to kick my ass...

Yeah, and every time when you lose you have to spend a night with this guy/woman just like in FO 2 in Broken Hills with Francis the mutant when you have lost at arm wrestling . Wouldn't this be great.

I wouldn't mind it if other members in the bar started fighting.

Like an argument or somthing between two of the drinkers and before you know theres a full blown bar fight. Whether you want to join in or not is up to you. For instance the fight may or may not initiate combat for you. Or you could just jump in there.

Plus, you would be able to see the argument...

Drinker 1: Damn it, who in the bloody hell do you think your staring at?

Drinker 2: You, you hideous freak!

Drinker 1: Oh yea! Well freak this *pulls out crow bar and cracks Drinker 2 in the ribs*.

Cassidy: Bar fight! *Bottles Myron*

Ha, the NPC's could get into there own bar fights.

The closest thing we had to that was Hoss down in NCR.

I was disapointed that you couldn't kick ass while trying to break up the fight at the Malamute Saloon. What's the harm in cracking a few skulls, so long as nobody dies? =P

*Thumbs up for barfights*

I'd also like to seem something like this implemented into Fallout 3...er, Van Buren. But I'd rather have it so that the fights weren't necessarily scripted or part of a sidequest. Sort of like a random encounter.

Arcanum managed to do just that. You could go into a bar and get into a random fight with a random bloke. The way that Troika did it, though, was to place a high level NPC in the bar. You'd have a random chance that they might approach you and insult you or try to kill you if they were an assassin.

Suggestion to developers: make a bar for most civilized towns. Everytime you arrive, have a random array of bar members spawn, each with a chance to get into a fight with the player. Maybe the penalty of loosing the fight is to have you pock picked and spending a night in jail. Winning the fight might let you pick the NPC's pocket. Killing the NPC might get you arrested or cause you to pay a fine.

Either way, I'd like to see barfights.

You guys don't remember the NPC-"barfight" in Fallout? Shame on you.

Three skulls are hanging in the bar in Junktown. One of them messes with the waitress. Bartender pulls out huge gun and messes up the skull good, the other two leave. Easiest way to get leather armour.

Well, it's not a barfight per se, but still...

We!

I mentioned that one in my post, I just called it the bar fight in Junktown though! :)

Still, those events are scripted. And half the time when I fight Hoss I kill him or my party members pull out their weapons and start killing everyone around. I'd like to be able to kick someones ass in Fallout 3 without having to deal with EVERYONE in the city. I understand why the police would rush in if I picked a fight in NCR, but why does every pimp and prostitute on the streets rush into Salvatore's joint when I commit genocide on his crime family?

I really hate when people starts beating you for starting a fight, but they don't even touch the other guy.

You can get into a real Barfight in Fallout 2. All you have to do is go to the Den, shoot Joey and run into the bar. He's such a bad shot he usually winds up hitting someone in the bar, who hits someone else who hits someone else and so on and so on. After a few minutes, you have everyone in the bar beating the shit out of each other.

But that's not the essence of a true barfight. Where's the cursing, the name-calling, the insults? Rather than randomly capping some guy and fighting him for experience, I'd rather see the character engage in some shit-talking so he'll seem like a badass. Maybe raise the reputation in some parts.

Barfights are a daamn good idea, and u can make a special perk for that named "barfighter" or "Bud Spencer" or something like that. If u won 10 barfights u get that wich gives a bonus to unarmed skills and some reputation.

Oh yeah, and your should be able to use onetime weapons like
beer bottles... or the first hit makes the bottle undrinkable (because it brokes) but give it more dmg (because u can thrust with it) ;)

I like the random idea a lot in this. I'd sure like to see a situation where an NPC will do the rough talking which has the potential to escalate into a bar fight.

I think this could work well if in certain places in the game such as bars, new NPC's could spawn each time the character enters that town adding new people to the bar areas. Not all might brawl though. A script maybe that only initializes combat if certain requirements are met.

Maybe if you drink a certain amount of booze then your chances of a brawl is increased.

But as most have mentioned, the fight would maybe be limited to just that bar and not bring down the town up on you. Police could break it up but the result wouldn't be you getting your knackers blown off and the game being over.
Possibly a night in the cells like in Junk town or even just a fine to pay! If you can't pay, maybe you get sent on a job of some sort and the money goes to police.

You could get out of the fight by leaving the bar or end it by either knocking your opponents(s) out or severely hurting them without the fight going on till someone gets killed.

But anywho, this idea seems to have some good potential.

I don't know about the "leaving the bar" bit. I know more than one bar fight has spilled out in to the street.

lol i could see the co-op multiplayer repucussions a entire bar full of brawling friends and the name calling and slurs flying everywhere sounds great!
