best post- apoc movie

Which is favorite your post apoc movie-

I'm thinking it's either the Planet of the Apes (the original), Threads, or Boy and his Dog.

I think I'll agree with the daemonic clown above. All Mad Max movies are good, and quite different from each other. I've just recently seen the first Mad Max and it doesn't even feel very post-apocalyptic. But Toecutter was an excellent villain!

I don't remember the name of the movie, but it was about a comet that came close to the earth and turned most of the people into red dust. Some people survived, for different reasons, and a lot turned into zombie mutants.

I know it sounds stupid, but it was actually a cool movie.

It was called, appropriately enough, "Night of the Comet". Weird movie, pretty neat though.

I still haven't seen "Threads" or "A Boy And His Dog" so my opinion is a little narrow, but my vote for best post-apoc movie goes to "The Road Warrior"

Ya you better! *kicks Crow with big red shoe!*

Mohrg

wow, i cant beleive you mentioned Threads! That was filmed in my home city of Sheffield and features loads of places that me and my friends regularly visit, which is a little creepy. The city centre has changed a lot since that though, and 'Dore and Totley Tennis Club' where the rioters try and climb the fence (only to be met by gunfire and teargas) is about 10 mins from my house. cool, huh!

anyway, my favourites are Mad Max 1+2 and 28 Days Later (the deserted london scene is just amazing).

The first Mad Max isn't really post-apocalyptic if I recall correctly. Isn't the nuclear war placed between the first and second movie, strange as it might seem? My vote would probably go to Planet of the Apes. Haven't seen Boy and his Dog, is it worth checking out?[/i]

I might not be right here but i think all the mad Max's are set after the war. In the first Max lives with his family in what remains of civilization. When his wife and son (daughter?) are killed and his revenge is fufilled, Max wanders into the desolate waste land where he learns to live again...

Fav post apoc flics would have to be:

- Soylent Green
- 2019-After the fall of New York. A rip off of Escape from New York maybe but a decent rip off non the less.
- 28 days later
- Planet of the Apes
- And Mad Max 2 The road warrior of course which would have to be my favourite.

Never seen 'A Boy and His dog' though. Whats that like?

Oh and The Postman. Although it wasn't the best of films it still wasn't to bad the first time I watched it...

My votes for Road Warrior. Best post apoc movie i've seen... although 28 days later was good too.

Mine would be either Escape From Planet Of the Apes or Battle for Planet of The Apes. But most people don't know them, and don't know that there are heaps of Ape Planet movies(the old ones like the original Planet of the Apes), and those two are really good, I suggest you try to find and watch them. Just about all the old Planet of the Apes films were on channel 1 on victorian foxtel 2 months ago, all great flicks.

Yeah "Night of the Comet" was it, I still don't know how the science would explain how people got turned into red dust.

And yeah "The Road Warrior" is the best hands down, I just tried to throw in something a little different from everyone else.

"Screamers" would be an honorable mention, but it was sci-fi and the planet they were on that got destoyed wasn't Earth... So it doesn't quite fit in.

The nuclear war happens in between "Mad Max" and "The Road Warrior." In Mad Max, society is falling apart, and war is going on, but the actual total destruction doesn't happen until a few weeks later.

Thanks, It's been some years since I last saw the first Mad Max but for some reason I allways interpreted them to be both after the war.

Screamers? Is that the film that has little robotic things that tunnel under ground and eventually upgrade them selves into children like cyborgs or am I way off here...
I remember watching somthing by that name and it was sci-fi as well. One thing I remember is that they had to smoke in order to counter the radiation. Or at least I think it was radiation.

since mad max probably has a place in everyone of our cholesteral laden fallout hearts i would say its probably a given that its almost everyones favourite...
that said another of my favs is Six String Samurai..

which probably also gets the award for most ridiculous post apocalyptic movie..
along with a slew of other awards like..
best music
best main character and villain..
and most annoying sidekick.

Damnation Alley is pure cheese.

I actually thought Six String Samurai had a lot more going for it in that it did mix the themes of japanese samurai flicks in with the the post apoc setting with a plus of nutty Russian surfer tunes. I liked it a lot.

Much better flick that Damnation Alley. Try Def-Con 4 for something similiar..

However, great box cover-
