Bethesda Forums limit gameplay discussion

I think they just want to 'beautify' the forum for the upcoming avalanche of morons, by keeping the discussion that really matters in a single thread... because outright deleting such 'inconvenient' threads could cause bad PR.

Well, since Oblivion got pretty much every design element Fallout has "wrong", it's not like the fans are limited to one item to fear/gripe/complain about.

At least they handle criticism well... :? Guess that guy hit a nerve.

If they are really that concerned with too many topics about such stuff, why don't they just tell us what kind of view and combat system the game will be? This far into the dev process that should have already been decided.

Keeping all the answers in one thread will stifle the discussion. They even said it themselves, they want to keep other issues on the first page. They just don't want people talking about it anymore.

I'm tired of the whole TB/ISO RT/FPP debate. When will people realise that you can't argue on personal preference?

This is, quite frankly, a silly argument. Downplaying the whole debate to personal preference is wrong.

On topic. I don't think this will help the debate. As was said before, they have a policy of looking threads after 200 posts. Is anyone really going to read through a number of threads just to be up to speed with it ? More then before things will get repeated over and over again.

It does look like an effort to sweep this discussion under the rug.

I'm tired of the whole TB/ISO RT/FPP debate. When will people realise that it is already too late and we are already screwed ?

If so many threads are flourishing, it's because many people are really worried by the design choices.

They've opened forums without giving people facts to make their idea (apart for the nice artworks and teaser which at least show the spirit of the game shall be in)

If they've done it for hype, now they pay the price ... unless this "censoring" is just another way of hyping things

New forum member and new Fallout fanboy.

I just played Fallout 1 (and am halfway through Fallout 2). Only started because Bethesda is doing Fallout 3.

Anyhow, Fallout is now one of my all-time favorite games. While Oblivion was also one of my all time favorites, it was different. I do not expect "Oblivion with guns" -- I do not want Oblivion with guns. I do not think Bethesda is going to give us that -- but, we'll see.

Regarding the topic: I think Bethesda did the right thing to combine the posts into one thread -- now I will know where to look for the best discussions. Moreover, the developers can save time and not miss any good suggestions because they will all be grouped.

Other game sites have done the same thing (grouped a popular set of related topics in one thread), in my experience. Just makes sense to me.

In fact, I had given up on the Bethesda Fallout 3 (and Oblivion) forums because there were just too many posts per minute in too many threads to deal with. Good topics got pushed off the front page very fast -- I felt it was pointless to read or post there. Now, maybe visiting there will make more sense.

Anyhow, nice site here. NMA has more practical Fallout info than any other site I came across -- including Bethesda. Glad to sign up. :)

Oh! Come and see the violence inherent in the system! Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

;)

At first I thought the topic title was:

Bethesda limits gameplay. Discussion:

But then I looked better. Heheh.
As someone said over there, it's the "put here all the stuff we don't give a cr*p about" topic.

Wecome. Always nice to see a new name come along (and one that isn't frightened about the wrong 'reputation' of NMA).

We are the only surviving fan site from the day when Fallout first came out (others have died and some have been resurrected). Some, like me, have been here since almost the beginning, others have come in along the way. It's this mix of 'old farts' and 'young' fans that makes this place a good one, imo.

Rather amusing. Still, I withhold judgment until we get some hard detail about the game - it's either nazi censorship, or sensible forum pruning.

I'm thinking Nazi censorship myself. Bethesda's forum is run by a bunch of jackbooted Nazis after all.

I joked about downloading Fallout 3 if it wasn't up to snuff, and my account was suspended for 16 years. Same with the two I made after that. After the last one, they IP banned me. I can't even browse the forums now...lol. All because of a lousy joke.

Most forums don't allow warez talk. Including this one.

That's neat. Yet again: do not cross-site troll. No one cares that you got banned there, there's no reason for you to post this here other than to instigate a bunch of whining.
I've warned you about this before, if you do this again, you get a temp-ban.
