Bethesda handing over FO4 duties to Obsidian?

First time out of the vault
It seems to me that if Bethesda (the publisher) wanted to play things smart, they'd like to get out Fallout 4 while the iron was still hot. With Bethesda the developer busy into mid-late October and Obsidian being ostensibly done with their current project (Dungeon Siege 3), is it conceivable that Bethesda could give Obsidian the Creation engine to get to work on the creative side of Fallout 4 right away whilst Bethesda Game Studios offered technical support when they were heading into the latter stages of development?

Of course, there's also the problem that it would give Obsidian the same problem they've always had: A buggy release on an engine their engineers aren't totally familiar with. But surely the fact that Fallout New Vegas sold well factors into Bethesda's outlook.

Extremely unlikely.

First they will release Skyrim this year and for next year I'll guess we will see Fallout 4 from them.

Bethesda is very, very careful about the value of their core, tentpole IPs (Fallout and TES). The fact that they let Obsidian do New Vegas at all was pretty surprising, and that won't work a second time.

I'd love it, but I don't think the odds are good.

It would be great if Obsidian would develop Fallout 4, but unfortunely it will be Beth.

Fallout 4 will be a Bethesda title and they've said they plan on producing more. I would be incredibly surprised if they handed it over to Obsidian. At least I hope they don't, I prefer to keep the Bethesda main/Obsidian spin-offs separate and going the way they are.

Maybe Bethesda will make Fallout 4 themselves then let Obsidian make another spin-off.

I don't mind Bethesda making Fallout 4 as long as they hire a writer who's not in 3rd grade.

Actually I would prefer Obsidian to handle both the main games and spin offs, and Bethesda's inhouse team never setting a foot near the IP ever again.

The problem lies with the mind set, Bethesda to me seems to be all about 'what is cool' and 'epic', and not 'what is good story telling'.

Yeah the FO3 fans will say different but I see the comparison like this; FO3 is like a summer blockbuster, as much spectacle as possible on the screen.
But it gets repetitive real quick once you have seen the parts on which the main focus is.

Fallout New Vegas also had that a little but also generates an interest to play the game again even if you have ignored it for a couple of months.
