Bethesda has the best fan interaction *ever*

Well, thank the gods that image is outta here, when you're in bad terms with SA avoid much linking...

But i said this once and i'll say it again: If the guy works for the company, he should be responsible and avoid posting his toughts in such a offensive way in an open forum, thats bad for the developer's image , even if the guy isn't from PR and is expressing his own opinions and not those of the company. (even tough that makes you wander how many people there think like him)

Yeah, nice huh?

They indicated why the banned Odin, for his "op-ed" news posting.

I got banned purely for association.

Ahhh well.

The SA goons banned you ? I used to like SA. I thought it was a place for free speech, where people left because they were outwitted. But honestly, what a bunch of idiots. Ah well, it's NMA the games sites and magazines will come to to report the 'fans opinion', not something awful.

Yeah, I don't get it myself, neither Odin or I were flaming, trolling, etc.

Odin was presenting his story regarding posting Hayt's news, and I was trying to talk about some items regarding FO3, when one of the admin's decided he was going to ban anyone associated with NMA, admins or "regular" posters.

Buyer beware, for sure.

Did you get your money refunded?
They're pathetic.

I sent them an email asking what policies I broke that deserved my being "perma-banned", and to have my money refunded.

Doubtful I'll see it, but not a biggy. If that's the way they play, it's a sad commentary about their practices.

It's not that big deal to me, I'm just curious as to their justification for it, other then the fact that I'm an NMA new poster.

I got a PM from HayT on the bethsoft forums telling me to watch my language and stop flaming. Which is ironic, given the language he's used to describe us on the SA forums. I pointed this out to him in a reply PM, he hasn't replied yet.

Odin was banned for his Hayt quotes on NMA's front page. This goes against Hayt's own wishes:
"Disclaimer: the opinions expressed in my posts are my own, and are in no way associated with those of my employer. Also, stop friggin' quoting me outside the forums, dickheads.

While it is within your rights to do so despite his wishes, Something Awful admins are free to ban individuals who apparently do not care if fellow members get into trouble as a result. SA only bans people breaking the rules or for screwing up fellow members.

How is this supposed to be ironic? Bethsoft forums have nothing to do with SA and both have a different set of rules to follow.

As an employee of Bethesda, he has a responsiblity to act like it even if he's off the clock. As people will view him as such no matter what he says.

Especially when in a public forum.

So if you are not allowed to use vulgar language at your workplace, you shouldn't swear during your own time either? What? He is not representing Bethesda on his spare time.

He is an employee at Bethesda.

He is "flaming" people because of what they have or have not done on a "Bethesda" site.

He can say what he wants about himself, George Bush or the Smurfs... but when he starts discussing "Bethesda business" (no matter HOW LOOSELY it might be) then it's only natural to view it as something semi-official.

And that's what he was doing, discussing things connected with Bethesda.

Let me give a different example, let's say he was working on The Elder Scrolls 4... and then "unofficially" stated the plot and that the game would suck... you don't think his employers wouldn't be angry at him?

Despite his "disclaimer"?

Ok, that addresses Odin's ban, how about mine?

I don't recall Odin quoting any of Hayt's posts, though.

I suppose though, that since Kahrn is one of his admins that he'd be guilty by association.

If he wasn't representing Bethesda, why the fuck did they ban Odin? For leaking insider information? Oh please, Hayt says it himself that his opinions are not official Bethesda statements.
