Bethesda off to E3

Community manager Matt Grandstaff notes in the Bethesda Blog that several senior Bethesda employees are off to the West Coast to attend E3:
Well not me, but Pete, Todd and a few others from our office are off to Santa Monica for this year’s smaller, more intimate version of E3. If I get any cool news from them, I’ll be sure to put it up. Hopefully, they’ll deliver some fun swag from the event as well…
Stay tuned for any Fallout 3 information that may arise from E3.

I'm looking forward to pics of NMA guys threatening Todd and the bunch with big pointy sticks to make a decent game or else!

"Todd, Todd! Could you explain how eating a radioactive, glowing corpse can possibly be healthy?"

"Todd! How can you cause a nuclear explosion within walking distance of your character and not instantly be vaporized?"

"Todd, I've heard rumors that this game will feature a couple of well-known actors doing voiceovers. Can you elaborate on that?"

"Todd, just how imersif, intaractiv and EPIC will this game be?"

Todd's Answer : "Well, y'know, like, Fallout 2's G.E.C.K didn't really exist either so...y'know..."

Well, I really, REALLY, hope to see some ingame footage this week !

Same here, MrBumble. Looking forward to hopefully seeing some sort of gameplay footage. I'm really torn on Fallout 3 - I want to like it so bad, but there's so much stuff that I already hate. I'm afraid the combat system is going to ruin the game for me, but I need to at least see it in action.

If anyone from NMA will be there I have one thing to say...
Give'em hell!
AFAIK NMA hasn't been invited and E3 is an invite only event this year.

which is funny, considering Toddler and Gstaff have been inviting tiny websites to their showcase crap and i can only imagine to be the same deal for E3. NMA pulls like what? five times the traffic than half of the invited dudes to the Bethsoft press events?

Indeed funny. Why not invite one of the biggest Fallout fan sites to a Fallout 3 preview, ridiculous... GW Beth

I thought the answer to that to be obvious, if you dont bow down, worship the ground Bethesda walks on, then writes a glowing (no pun intended) preview to feed their hype machine.. then they cant use you :)

yeah really, even though NMA has a large following, I can't see beth sending an invite since they know they'd get too many scary questions and critiques. They wouldn't be able to handle it, and they probably know it. It's kindof a lose-lose situation for them. Not sending an invite=ignore the biggest fallout-fansite and piss them off even more. Sending an invite=getting flamed in person is teh sca4ry shit!

edit: hello btw, been lurking these past years. This site hated my old email domain so i never got around to registering until i got a "good" one. Better late than never or something...

It's a policy of reward and punishment. You kiss Bethesda's ass, they take you with them to all the cool places.
If you're more interested in truth and integrity.. well, screw you!

It's logical. They are guilty of unforgivable crimes against Fallout and CTRPGs and now they don't want to face their judges.

Maybe the inevitable video game market crash will happen just as Fallout 3 hits the shelves, leaving Todd & co. with egg on their face.
Well.. a man can dream..

Failed perception check.

While it lasts, before Wooz's minions issue fatwah against their heads.

I'm not positive on this, if this game turns out to be worst case scenario, that is, it doesn’t appeal to the Fantasy RPG crowd, the Post-Apocalypse RPG Crowd or the FPS crowd then it will tank... hard.

Far too little is know at this point, but I believe it's going to take a lot more then the "Wow look at those TREES" that sold Oblivion. Another year from now and the graphics for FO3 will be "on par" rather then the cutting edge that really helped Oblivion rise to the top. Again this is a worst case IMHO, and the odds still lean towards "It will be a smash hit" but I don't see then as a surefire success anymore then say... WaterWorld was a blockbuster movie - Big Names, Sky's the Limit budgets and tons of hype can only do so much...

Edited for typos

You know, if that market crash does happen for the video game industry, I wouldn't mind spitting out $100+ for a game as long as I get to see Bethesda crash and burn and Fallout 3 never get released, at least, until a competent company that has more than just capitalisation on their minds comes along and brings us deliverance.

I feel like such an Egyptian Jewish slave.
