Bethesda Podcast #3: New Vegas gone gold

I think they mentioned in another interview that they began work on it in February last year, so it's more like a year and a half. As for the bugginess, it's Obsidian. Expect the worst, hope <s>for the best</s> it's playable.

Fixed that one for ya.

I'm also noticing that the price of FO:NV on Steam has been increased by forty fucking dollars to $89.95 USD for Australian customers. So sick of this regional pricing bullshit. Pretty sure Europeans and/or Brits also have to put up with some similar stuff.
That's insane! That's the price I've have to pay for my preordered Collectors Edition at GameStop

Yes, there are some news inside. It was also said that if you complete the quests of your followers, they will get new clothes. Okay, since the Raul concept art with his armors, it was pretty obvious, but not officially confirmed.

I am really tensed to see the 'badass ncr armor' that Boone will get.
Though while I like the idea I hope it will not be with every companion and quest so cheesy ... like "oh, killed that boss which was your nemesis" - "HEY! look neeeeeeew shiny armor in your inventory". You know gets boring fast after the third time or so.

Sadly yes ... you know what many do now they buy their games from Britain (amazon.uk) as even with the shiping its most of the time much cheaper then to buy it here at least around 10 $ most of the time. And when you buy a lot of games over the time you really notice that.

Yeah I would order from Britain if I lived in Australia with that steap price they're setting there...

There're 3 places here in Denmark where you can order the CE. Gamestop for 90$ (there's a local store where I live and where I preordered it) and 2 online stores GAME (108$) and CDON (126$). So at the online stores CE is actually more expensive than at my local GameStop :)

Well the CE I ordered from Game.co.uk is 50 pound sterling which equals about 80 dollars or to put it another way, Steam is mental sometimes.

Maybe that massive price hike is to help cover all the wackos in Australia's government that are figuring out what to censor and Bethesda needs that extra money to pay them off? lol

Getting to level 30 is a big accomplishment, it's not easy.

- please let this be true. I want 30 reachable only after doing most quests and exploring most of the map, not like in FO3 where I had level 20 with 30% of the map explored.

Me too, my first play through I quit after I hit level 20 without finishing 1/3rd of the map. I really hope this is fixed for New Vegas!

the illegitimate Bishop child
I remembering arguing for this being the main character in Fallout 3 before we found out for sure. I don't know how the timelines match up but that would have been an interesting way to explain where the player character came from in New Vegas. Perhaps a family from New Reno persuaded you to stop by New Vegas on your way East to deliver a message...

I'm actually somewhat interested now. I liked this pic of Marcus too

Wow that is fuckin BS! So glad I bought it when it was still pre-order for 49.95. If you live in Aus and want it cheeper you can always get a friend in the US to buy it on steam and gift a copy to you or set up a fake US steam account (need a proxy IIRC).

All I had to do was send out a help ticket saying my region was locked and it was a mistake and I didn't live there anymore or whatever, and within a couple days a tech guy unlocked my region, and I was free to use the US portal of the store. I used it to get Alpha Protocol, which for some reason was unavailabe in Korea.

Interesting! I live in the UK, and there are some games released in the US that are not released in the UK, or at least not till much later. On the other hand, it would probably been that all the prices for everything would then be in dollars rather than pounds, and I'd also miss out on the rare Europe-only exclusives.

Thankfully I heard about this before I even started playing the game, and within just a few days of the game coming out there were various slower-levelling mods.

One of the annoying things was that killing a few random raiders and hacking a couple of computers could net you as many points as completing an important quest. The mod I used massively reduced the rewards for killing/lockpicking/hacking (as in, 25% the normal points!), while the rewards for completing quests or discovering lcoations were only slightly reduced. This meant that simply exploring the wasteland was unlikely to level you up to 20, but actually completing missions (whether main quest or side-missions) would level you up.

I'm wondering whether Fallout New Vegas has gone that sort of route, or whether they have simply reduced the skill point rewards for everything. I don't feel that hacking a computer or unlocking a door should net a 100 point rewards, especially as you are already being rewarded by whatever is in the container.
