Imagine if they put all that creative energy in thinking up lawsuits against people and other companies, and actually used that in game development.

I don't actually expect execs and lawyers to be especially good at game design or development.

No I don't mean that Per, because that would never work.

More like, if we could convert that energy that execs and lawyers use, and put it into the developers, boosting their minds and imaginations.

Good Interplay should be able to make this game. They invented it!!! Go AWAY Bethesda and work on Skyrim or something.

At this point Interplay is just a name. I don't think there is much of anyone left from its heyday. Honestly, I'd rather see Bethesda make this game. At least they have money and resources. It may be a lesser of two evils thing, but if they farmed it out to Obsidian it might even be good!

Their legal team really seems to be a bunch of assholes. They just threatened Mojang (maker of Minecraft) with a lawsuit, because Mojang is working on a game called Scrolls, and Bethesda is saying that "The Elder Scrolls" is trademarked and so they own the word "Scrolls"....

What if the target is to develop a lawyer-simulation ?

The Lawyer Scrolls, coming soon to a store near you!

There will be like, infinite trials and explosions and stuff.

Anything less than nukular objection that can be overruled only if the judge is Liberty Prime (hence it can be won only if player mash his X button in a QTE quickly enough to cause something O:S'M) and I'm boycotting it!

Maybe Hasbro should sue Bethesda over Liberty Prime.

Nintendo should sue them because they have the number 3 in the title of their game, and Mario Bros. 3 came out first.

I can't imagine these lawyers make decisions completely separate from any form of management. They have to know targeting Minecraft is going to be terrible for PR. People love Minecraft, they're just making themselves out to be a villain.

Remember, these are the same lawyers who tried to sue Interplay based on the grounds that they only had the right to use the Fallout name, but not the materials that make a game a Fallout game.

EXACTLY With that kind of creativity they could probably create a pretty awesome game.

Legal team is not seperate

Saying bethesda's legal team is making all of these bad and unethical decisions implies that bethesda has a group of crazy, wild eyed lawyers running amok and doing their own thing without management's permission or knowledge. Bethesda's lawyers work under the direction and oversight of Bethesda's management, meaning that bethesda's management is with their lawyers on this every step of the way and is guiding and orchestrating all this... Doesn't paint a pretty picture of the folks running this company. Even greedier and shadier than some of the worst kind of corporate greed, contract war companies, the halliburton's of the world.

Can anyone help me? I click on that bar on the right side of the window as I heard it's called Scroll and I thought it was the next elder scrolls game but all it does is make the window go up and down..

Anyone?

..especially if you are elder, you are not allowed to touch the scroll bar under any circumstances! Not even talking about it. :naughty:

Aye, I'm a bit disappointed in Skyrim as well. Expected it to feature more immersion.

Dead horse keeps on burnin, proud Mary keeps on appealin

Well, today 8-9-11, Bethesda appealed their latest loss to the federal court of appeals. No joke, second time that they have lost and then filed for appeal with the federal court of appeals.

Their shenanigans have already cost interplay millions of dollars. Seems to be their strategy, sue the world to death and trademark every word in existence...

Their can be only one...

It's possible Bethesda is attempting to use legal mumbo jumbo to stop this game for a very good reason.

It might be TERRIBLE.

First, Interplay is not the guys who created Fallout. Those guys made New Vegas.

Second, MMO's are expensive as hell to make properly. Budget estimates for WoW at launch were tens of millions of dollars.

Bioware has reportedly spent over 300 million on Old Republic.

Does anyone think this game has anywhere close to that kind of budget?

So think older graphics, and limited content.

Bethesda might be dicks. They might also be trying to do us all a favor and save us from buying a bad game.

Anyone remember that Fallout PS2 game?

Long story short, when BIS was shut down it splitted into the team that made Arcanum, and the one that made KOTOR (and now FNV). So it's wrong to say what you did say. Also, my personal point of view is that the makers of Arcanum are like a hundred times more worthy of the Fallout legacy than the makers of KOTOR. Not saying FNV was bad, but talking about the people who made it as the true Fallout founders is wrong, and it would also be wrong to say Troika's members are the true Fallout founders. Fallout founders are widely spread and taking some of them to make a new Fallout game is far from being fair enough to call it "a game made by the same guys that created Fallout".

You mean the makers of "Award-Winning-Fallout-3" could be trying to save us from buying a bad game? :P

Yeah, and when you talk just about Fallout 1 then Interplay currently has Chris Taylor (lead designer) and Mark O'Green (one of the main writers), while the people now at Obsidian didn't have that much of an influence on the original Fallout (they did on Fallout 2, though).

Does anyone know that Interplay is just a dead company? Hell, they don't have budget to buy a coffee machine!

(exaggeration much?)
