Big Boxes that you kept and that you threw away (that are worth a lot !)

First time out of the vault
What PC-game big boxes that are worth a lot of money now, did you keep, and did you throw away?

I kept:

- Resident Evil 1
- Resident Evil 2
- Fallout 2
- Fallout Tactics
- Interstate 76 Arsenal

I threw away:

- Fallout 1 (sigh, what a dumb moron I was and still am)
- Resident Evil 3

Your turn !!

Why would anyone throw out a box?
I can understand if it was damaged, say in flooding or fire, but other than that I can't imagine a reason.

I threw out all my boxes and sold most of my games various times over the years. A short list of boxes/games I wish I still had:

Warcraft II
Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition
Doom I and II
Quake
Halflife

Halflife I still have, Blueshift, OPForce and the original HL :)

As for Quake 2, omg, I forgot to add that on my threw away list, I even had the expansions for it !!! All gone, into the fire, back into the air..... we are all breathing my damned burned boxes !!!!

You never threw out a box?
You must live in one heck of a mansion !!!!

No, I don't live in a mansion, and no, I never threw out a game box. Again, why would I?
They take up some space, sure, but hardly a massive amount of space so that you would need a mansion for it. But that's basically the only downside to them.
You could just make a separate shelf for them, or if you need space (like me) place them next to the books or something.

Either way, I throw away boxes all the time, but not game boxes. Those things are integral part of what makes (well, used to make) physical copies...real.

Back in the day, when DVDs started popping up and the ugly DVD cases, everyone I remember was like" OMG, cool !! Finally no more useless boxes!!", I kind of went with that wagon and threw a few boxes away. Oh well, can't even learn from that mistake as nobody makes big boxes anymore !!!

From what I remember,
Fallout
Fallout 2
Sim City 2000
Under A Killing Moon
Interstate ‘76
There was also a ton of other shit games I don’t care to remember.
The longest surviving big box was Sam ‘n Max Hit the Road, which lasted till 2015, cd, manual and all, but then the house was sold and I think I threw out over 100 games. Sad.
