anyone really try this yet? it is supposed to create a different psychological effect depending on the frequency used.

anyways there's a few programs for it, i myself have tried natura sound therapy, I felt an odd sensation...although in the long term i dont know the real effect behind using binaural beats.

Yeah, this is a long time hoax.

No, you can't get high by it.
The effect is placebo at best.

*edit*

It can help you relax though.

Any minute now, someone's going to suggest smoking banana skins.

I seem to recall there are cheaper alternatives to potentially hazardous ambiguous chemicals in Wisconsin.

If you wanna get high semi-legally, buy some Mimosa Hostilis root bark, make it into tea, drink said asshole flavored tea.

You have about 60 seconds after you swallow to sit down and set the cup down, because you are about to be hit with a freight train of insanity.

Yes, I've used it but not to get me high. It can relax you and it clears your head. Listen to it for like 5 minutes, and then some music straight after the music sounds 100x sharper and clearer, it's a good feeling.

DMT (The active ingredient in Mimosa Hostilis) > Salvinori A (the active ingredient in Salvia)

The right to drink tea made of Mimosa Hostilis has been successfully defended in court before.

although
DMT is Schedule I in the United States. This means it is illegal to manufacture, buy, possess, or distribute (sell, trade or give) without a DEA license.

The problem with that law is that the human body CONTAINS DMT, so the law has come to mean specifically refined DMT. It is essentially legal to use or have DMT as long as it is non-refined, and it has also been defended as a traditional religious ritual (which it is) with success, meaning that you have two true and tried defense approaches. That being said, it is illegal to cultivate more than a certain number of certain plants that contain DMT (It is illegal to own more than a certain number of Mimosa Hostilis trees), but if they grow in the wild, it is not illegal (many many plants and animals contain DMT, although usually only in small amounts).

You CAN legally import Mimosa Hostilis, although I do admit that the legal climate surrounding that is a bit rocky, and it could change at any time... but for now it remains legal.

I like salvia because

A) Its high only lasts 15 minutes (or so - depending on how much you smoke)

B) you can lace smokables with said salvia (Swisher Sweets, Black and Milds, Hell - even Camel Wides)

C) Each high is different

however - 60x Salvia is abou 80 bucks for a single ounce phail.

DMT, when refined, is done the same way as Salvia, and has a similarly intense hallucinatory high. It kicks in faster, and last longer, thats the only difference. Oh, and it is a little more legally complicated.

DMT is also unique in the fact that it is 100% untraceable in the body within 5 minutes of it kicking in, in such a way that it actually baffles scientists since it is no longer in your blood or brain, yet the high continues to last up to 3 or 4 hours. (usually only around 2 though)

The same is true with salvia. Salvia isn't traceable through blood, urine, or hair follicle tests.

Probably, but after that discussion I had with Morar the Ice God, I learned that life isn't worth living if you don't take a risk now and then...

That and stop signs aren't the center of the Universe and the one-armed drummer from Def Leppard doesn't want to destroy me.

The reason DMT is untraceable in your blood stream is because your brain naturally produces it in your dopemine glands while you are sleeping. Dreams are the cause of a natural, very mild DMT high. It is unknown the exact reason for this, but it is speculated that it helps stimulate nerve endings in the brain causing growth without a normal dopemine/oxygen/electrical stimulus. This lets the brain rest but still remain active.

There is no such thing as a dopemine gland. Dopamine mainly comes from nervous tissue (such as dopaminergic neurons) and adrenal glands.

DMT is not structurally related to dopamine, but is similar to serotonin and can bind to certain serotonin and possibly trace amine receptors. It can get degraded pretty quick by monoamine oxidase

Binomial nomenclature for classification.

Thank you Commander Data.

lol. It's good to know there are actually still people out their worth their weight in water.

It's also commonly assumed that pre-death hallucinations are caused by a release of stored DMT in the brain.

Anyways, lots of assumptions in that post Dopemine Cleric, sleep, dreaming, and DMT are all far from understood.

Also, neurotransmitters do not come from glands, as quiet fanatic elaborated upon. DMT is a tryptamine, similar to melatonin and serotonin. LSD is also based on a tryptamine-like chemical structure. So is psilocybin (shrooms).
