Bring the wasteland back- Fallout atmosphere/Style

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
What pissed me off in Fallout 2 was that most places looked too 'clean'. VC, NCR, Broken hills, hell even New Reno. Besides that, too many damn trees around. If i'm playing a post nuclear RPG then i don't expect too many of that crap. Fallout 1 had so much more 'atmosphere' in that regard. I don't care how they explain it (maybe the explosion at the oil rig caused some damage again) but get more wastelandish cities and places in. And get rid of the damn trees.

trees, and such are not very unlikely in Fo2. Remember that the story takes place 80 years later than in Fo1. People would have plenty of time to plant some trees and clean the streets a bit. I guess people got a bit sick of the "wastelandish" scenery.
Some wasteland in Fo3 sertainly would'nt hurt though.

well... actually, isnt the game about survival after nuclear war? By having the trees and cleanliness, their simply showing the fact that humanity would rebuild and attempt to return to normal. Nothing strange... just now, we're experiencing a different game world. The world evolves... we need to evolve with it :).

If it was about survival, it would've capitalized on simulation aspects, such as drinking, eating, hunting, scavenging, etc. and wouldn't have pulp stuff such as psykers, robots, and mutant threat.

You could also say that Doom was about World War 2, how despite the horrible losses suffered by both sides we not only didn't destroy ourselves but managed to go into space and settle other planets, or some other tangent shit like that.

When people say the game needs to 'evolve', it's a sure sign they played it so much they are dead-tired of it and want something else but they became too attached to this game.

WEll damn... you hit the nail on the head there. LoL, I have no other games I really feel like playing so I kind of just run through fallout over and over again. And damn... I need something new :).

Go to the General Discussions forum and look up RPG recommendations topic. These are all very good recommendations if you want a great RPG with Fallout quality.

Yea, I'm staving off the desire to replay fallout right now through the help of xenosage (which is pretty damn good so far) and the ordering of phantasy star online :). So hopefully those can keep me busy til october when i'll be picking up lionheart which can keep me busy til... Fallout 3 :).

Fallout3 NEEDS to be post apocaliptic. This aspect is big part of what Fallout is. I think it shouldn't be more cleaned then Fallout2. JR Jansen is right. F3 can even be more apocaliptic  . Ofcourse there has to be some nice and cleaned cities, but stick to the nuclear world. That's one of the best things in Fallout that makes it BETTER than the other regular rpg's. Why Fallout have to fall to their level. :(

they should have almost every city appocaliptic exept for NCR and Voult City if there still there. F3 could also be in a different place with would give the game much more possibilities

True that, other regions might have had heavier conflict that kept the region from developing much further than scavenging. With the exception of a few towns which might have developed a strong defense (Basically, Dark Ages of Europe... with modern technology mwahahaha). But yea, just because the game takes place in later years than Fallout 2, it could very easily maintain the apocalyptic feel in another region.
