Dauntless paratrooper Ausir has reported on OXM content from that other site:
* The Brotherhood of Steel will make an appearance, but won't be one of the main factions, unlike the New California Republic and the Caesar's Legion
* Special attacks in VATS are performed by pressing Y (For 360)
* The Pip-Boy in the game is the Pip-Boy 3000 from Fallout 3
* Your quest in the wasteland involves finding out who tried to murde you and what was in the package you were carrying
* In Goodsprings, there is the option of joining with the Powder Gangers and ruining the town.
* Customization - Scopes on pistols is one example. It also affects the guns performance, add a large magazine to a weapon, and you'll notice longer, but fewer reloading times.
* The reputation will be important to the ending
* Nightkin have been turned schizophrenic through prolonged use of Stealth Boys, they deactivate their camo before attacking you, with a club. You can only target them in VATS when there visible.
* You can covince Tabitha that the dumb mutants are planning a revolt against the smart ones, and that causes a battle between the two factions, leaving you to go and grab up Raul.
* Poseidon Energy was developing a solar weapon called Archimedes II. The plant is currently controlled by NCR, and they've placed a guy named Fantastic in charge of the plant, he hasn't figured out how to activate the plant or the weapon yet. But, if your good enough, then you can. You can divert power to the wastes, or use the weapon for your own ends.
* SPECIAL descriptions are back: If you have 1 Endurance, your Endurance description is 'Basically Dead' and with 10 Charisma you are 'Cult Leader'.

Damn, well it was expected, makes more sense than in dc. Hope they wont make brohterhood very influental in game. Something like fallout 2 had would be great. Maybe even less.

I don't care as much about how large their role is as much as I care about them being written correctly. Bethesda's BOS was about the most juvenile shit-storm the poor ol' BOS had seen since the days of thongs.

That's a very huge minus for me here.

What kinda sucks about the BoS in NV isn't even that they're there, since they're not a major factions, but that it probably cements permanently the myth that every Fallout game has to have the BoS in it.

That means that every Fallout game from now on, regardless of location both geographically and in the timeline, will be expected have the BoS.

That is beyond retarded.

The basic idea of Nightkin sounds ok but only if they're intimidating, threatening. I think the schizophrenic thing as a consequence of overusing StealthBoy was brought up before (in Van Buren? Do you remember, Ausir?*), but it really only works if being in a place with Nightkin you can't see and can jump out at any time is actually creepy. And that's hard to do. Decloak and attack with club just makes 'em sound stupid.

I love the bit on a SpeechBoy path through the Tabitha combat fest.

* EDIT: found it, it was part of the Circle of Steel stuff in VB.

Yeah, it was in Van Buren, but there the BoS had a few people who suffered from paranoia because of the stealthboys.

Love the circle of steel stuff. Still I fear about the BoS in NV... but maybe it's just because we don't have much information about it.

Really seems to be quite a lot of things taken from Van Buren in this game.

I think it probably feels good for the guy that were onboard to get that content out. Avellone and Sawyer in particular seem to feel pretty strongly about Van Buren. I know Avellone said somewhere he hasn't felt that strongly about tieing a games theme to the gameplay (or something, I can't remember the quote) aside from Planescape: Torment.

Anyways, the fact that they appear to be implementing a lot of Van Buren stuff makes me hope that they'll keep the Combat, Speech, Science and Stealth boy approaches intact as much as possible in a Fallout 3-ish game.

Decloak and attack with club just makes 'em sound stupid.

True.
Now, if they sniped you in the dark with the cloak on, now that would be fucking creepy. Just make them change positions often and then they would be really dangerous.

The only meaningful decision in Fallout 3 (Megaton) was spoiled in the first walk through...

To be honest, if anything struck me but didn't surprise me about these previews, it's the ignorance of the writers. From not knowing geckos to thinking all super mutants in the old Fallout games were intelligent to referring to the BoS as "Fallout 3's Brotherhood of Steel" (which I pray doesn't mean the Eastern brotherhood. My personal canon is that rocks fell on them and they're all dead)

As with the early Fallout 3 previews, I can't wait for someone who actually knows the franchise to get his hands on it. And that doesn't exclude mainstream journos, like Porter or Desslock.

How about the Tenpenny Tower decision?
Ok, one of a handful of meaningful decisions in Fallout 3.

And yeah, Kharn, it would be nice to have some guys who at least skimmed the wiki for background previewing this game.
