I,ve completed pretty much all the Brotherhood of Steel related quests and i'm really none the wiser to a lot of stuff. Sadly, most of their exposition besides the conflict at Helios One is from the loading screens and Veronica's very dreary assessment of their future. We're told rather vaguely that their power has diminished (probably relatively i imagine) but they still have bunkers across the Mojave.
Do we know whether the conflict limited to the Mojave, or when it started exactly? Lost Hills IIRC is still the headquarters, right in the middle of NCR.
Have i missed something? The computers even after you join don't yield any more info on their recent history. Just all seems very vague, when i'd hope to actually find out something more.
I also wonder whether the NCR Vertibird means the BoS also has access to them (lets ignore the fact the eastern BoS if we took it as canon, is rolling around in tons of post-war supertech including Vertibirds and Hellfirebumrush armour etc), NV indicates the NCR attacked Narvarro so i presume it's salvaged rather than made from schematics.
I have to say, while I enjoyed the quests for them and found it refreshing for them to be portrayed properly again, i do wish there was more exposition and lore to be found.
