Bug or not? The mutant perk on Deathclaw

Hello, as you all know mutate perk lets you replace a trait with another. Having the Matriarch in my team, i dropped Domesticated to gain bonuses, for another trait. Then i noticed the new trait didnt appear. Is it actuallly gone forever or invisible but active?

I tested the perk with various traits, with the same result: impossible to see the new trait, no matter what.
 
That's strange as it shouldn't happen. I did same trait swapping on that character several times without any problems.
