Chris Avellone interview

Y'know, the stuff MCA says on Bethesda's PR makes so much sense from the perspective of Obsidian. Even if we hate it.

I doubt he'll reply, given that they're likely to use him in a DLC.

That's going to be so much trouble if they wanna keep him integrated into the story/world as much as it sounds he original was. Or rather: they can't do that.

Sure, but they can come up with a DLC questline that makes sense for him to be used there.

I am sick of these 'Exclusive Deals' MS is doing to promote their stupid console, DR2 fans are already screwed out of Case Zero and Case West and now this.

If M$ wants exclusive releases they should make these themselves, not screw out buyers on other platforms of additional content for multi platform releases they also would like to play.

It's entirely possible this content wouldn't have even been developed without the deal in the first place (i.e. a guaranteed return on the investment, ala Grand Theft Auto IV's exclusive content which Microsoft paid for upfront).

Oh, I actually didn't know that (the GTA DLC deal).

Its just that if Obsidian makes a couple of good ones, I would really like to try them myself, not hear how they went from a source.

I'm kinda wondering whether there will be a DLC related to Joshua Graham. Afaik he's not in the game but there is a fair amount of build-up regarding his character.

I was actually just going to comment on that.

I have to say, some of the stuff that the Obsidian Devs are saying about Bethesda are taking the "big bad corporate machine" image that they have and softening it somewhat. While I still disagree with a lot of their decisions, I can sort of see why they are made (in the sense that someone can kind of see the benefit of blowing up an orphanage because that's the way to bust into the backdoor of the bank vault), and while I still disagree with their philosophy, I do somewhat admire their professionalism. I haven't heard a lot of noise about Bethesda being heavy handed and forcing Obsidian to tone anything down, and MCA's comments about people from marketing actually wanting to play the game to better understand it and market it seems like a no brainer, but it's also obvious from marketing of some other games that the PR people have no idea what game they're actually working on and are simply cutting and pasting shiny stuff together.
