I've loved the CIV games. Definitely a childhood staple. However, once I got into the Europa Universalis games, I noticed that the same 'ol Civilization game wasn't going to do it for me anymore.

Hopefully they do something different or new.

I'd definitely prefer a remake of Alpha Centauri, although considering what they did with Colonization, it might be better to just leave it be.

I'm excited already. Civ IV was a huge improvement over Civ V and I've had a lot of fun with it. I'm not one for the detailed spreadsheet goodiness of Europa Universalis, and I like the balance of spreadsheets Civ gives me just fine.

It's interesting that they moved to hexagons from the simple square tiles of the previous game. I doubt that that would have a big impact, though.

Hey! Why nobody told me before reading this?? Awe-fucking-some! I LOVE Civilizations!

Except EA won't ever let that happen I'm sure :(

omg

there are REALLY few games that maintain my attention for a period bigger than 1 month, and one of these games is Civ IV. I just hope its out when I already had bought my new PC, because this one dont run nothing that was launched after 2008, otherwise I'd be extremely frustrated. (as I am with Bioshock 2, with COD Modern Warfare 2, Prototype, and most of decent games released in 2009 and 2010 till now.)

And I love Europa Universalis too, but, I have to raise patience to play it since a month before actually play it. Too much details.

I'd enjoy the new CIV game a lot even if it just a few of the "details" of a EU game. It by no means needs to be a "grand strategy" game. But if it's just a rehash of the game before it with slightly prettier graphics, I'll be pretty disappointed.

How aren't you banned yet, it's a mystery.

Can't really wait, I saw some streams of SC2, now if only Civ V, Disciples III and New Vegas would come out this year it could be a glorious year for the master race.

My lack of carefully re-reading my posts will be the end of me someday.

Well, judging by their previous games that's basically what you're going to get. However, each iteration has had a lot of fundamental changes in AI and some basic game mechanics. Expect the same game you've been getting for 4 iterations, but with better balance and a smarter AI.

This game is using turn based and isometric-like perspective, it can't sell, because its old and outdated. This is such a waste. If they would go with the time, they would make it first person perspective and realtime, because it is much more immersive.

Uh oh, wait...

By the way, I've never played any Civ game except the first one and I am playing the first one at least once a year for one or two weeks since... many years. Yay.

I would second the opinion on an Alpha Centauri remake. Sigh, after that game, I just don't feel very excited over Civ 3 or Civ 4 anymore.

Never made it to deity on Civ IV, but it did eat up several months of time. Hopefully this one is good too. Hopefully it's not like Civ Rev.

Fun Fact: Civ IV uses the same 'base' engine as Fallout 3 and Warhammer Online.

In any case, CIV IV with its expansions is a lot of fun to play.

NV is definitely coming out this year.

Haven't picked up a Civ games since Civ II gold. I've been considering getting Civ IV but I think I'll wait for Civ V, the change to hexes excites me.

I'm still waiting for a Master of Magic sequel...

Civ games are among the few games that cause in me the "one more hour" syndrome. I usually end up playing 6 more hours.
I for one love both Civ games and Europa Universalis games.
Hell, i even managed to learn how to play Victoria.
Paradox strategy games and Civ games are amongst my favourites.

Dis3 IS out. Wouldn't bet much on it, only has boring single-player campaigns.

Very exciting.

Hoping this one will bring some new and interesting things to the table...

...and ditch the cartoony graphics (what is WITH those these days?! Was it Blizzard's fault?). Wasn't a fan of those. Veryyy much preferred the 2D of Civ 2 and 3.
