Consistent Crash Upon Entry Into Uppermost Junktown

Pariah

First time out of the vault
<title>

As soon as I enter the exit barrier that leads into the northern part of Junktown, the screen goes black and I have to go to the Task Manager.

I have both the "Fallout patch 1.3 EN TeamX" and the "Fallout Update Mod v1.2.5 english version" implemented within the game.

If there was a patch and/or mod update that I missed, please point in that direction.

Patch requires Fallout1 v1.2. This patch is theoretically compatible with "NPC mod" and not compatible with "1.2.5 Update Mod"..

Oh. Thanks.

That's kinda odd though.

I mean, it's only that particular segment of the game that's been acting up. Everything else, according to the stipulations of the mods, has been working fine.

The game may crash if you are using Fallout Update Mod v1.2.5. There are many bugs, we mentioned this fact in readme. Now we are working on new version of Update Mod, which will be compatible with 1.3 patch and will not have so many bugs in it :).

Yea I have noticed a few bugs with the 1.2.5 version. Namely the mexican in junktown, after you gave him the money he acts like it's the first time he is talking to you ?
The elder and the old woman in shady sands, the burly man in the hub, they all seem poorly developed. Also what are 2 supermutants doing in the boney there should be a background story to it ?
The guy in the hub that's trying to sell you a car, when he takes you to the raider camp, after you kill them if you loot the camp the game will crash.

Okay, I'm starting to think it's the 1.3 patch.

I re-installed the game using just the 1.3 and, this time, the NPC mod and then it crashes in exactly the same place.

I'll have to try again with just the 1.3.

Alright, I re-installed it, only using the 1.3 patch, and it crashed at the exact same spot.

So the 1.2.5 mod is not the problem, nor is the NPC mod.

did you try testing this without any patches?

Maybe one of your files is corupted on the cd ?

I've had several crashes in that area without any mods, though not when I first enter it. Possibly it's so unstable somehow that script changes have an extra high probability of messing things up further.

Yeah I tried it, and it works fine.....But it's a moot point now because I just checked, and I found out I'm running on Fallout 1.0. Since the patch was designed for 1.2, I have no one to blame but myself.

It's a little odd though. I mean, even if it's not designed for it, the patch still works throughout the entire game except for that one part.

Anyway, last question: I realize I can make the 1.3 work if I use the 1.2 first. But do I need a 1.1 patch before that?
