Played ME2 some time ago and it became so predictable.
Cover-based shooting can just fuck right off IMO.

I like cover-based shooting well enough but it has become a bit of a crutch for the weaknesses of console shooters, and well over-used as such.

It really needs better level design than we're getting, too. Running into any area with cover in ME2 automatically means I should expect a fight. The more cover the bigger the fight. That's just weak.

there are many things that are just "weak", and of top of that is the "auto heal" feature which seems to be almost in any game today so far. probably the worst invention ever. But thats another story ~ RPGs or wanabe RPGs anyway ... not to mention shooters, third person shooters, etc. etc.

Regarding ME comments. Well its interesting how Bioware at least tries to blend everything together (which I find really sad) particularly as it seems like they want to go with Dragonage 2 even MORE for action ~ sorry but wasnt Dragonage 1 not ENOUGH action already ? How could it be even MORE O.o

*and please dont call ME2 a "RPG". It simply isnt. It ... just isnt. It might be a "good" game. But its not a RPG.

I don't feel the need to box in RPGs like some do, there seems little point. What is interesting in Mass Effect 2 to me is how it became a better game by dropping some of the pretense Mass Effect still hang on to. It is unabashed about being casual, and is a better game for it.

Shitty story though.

though I find it today more important then ever to know what would be a "RPG" and what not as its easy to sell EVERYTHING as RPG that way regardless if it is one or not. I know maybe its a somewhat meaningless term but when you grew up with a few pretty good games where the visuals have not been one of the bigest priorities ~ though to say visuals would have not been important even in Fallout 1 would be simply rubish! It is interesting to see how games like ME2 which pretty much have nothing of a RPG left in it are labeled as the epidome of RPG evolution. What comes next ? Doom 4 called an RPG cause you "Roleplay" a marine killing deamons ? I just find it tiresome today to find out what is a good game and what not when everything that is even remotely looking like a RPG gets the "RPG" everywhere, at some point I used the "action" RPG to see if its my taste or not ... but since it seems ALL of them are around "action RPGs" today that seems not work anymore as well.

Doom RPG is basically a JRPG, everything about it is JRPG, stats go up when you level up automatically, it's completely linear. I don't think they were ever trying to make it a "WRPG" in the first place.

The problem with this idea is that it's Western-made, and it's not a Western style Role-Playing Game.

JRPG, WRPG, ARPG, SEXRPG, MMMORPGRGHCNRTGMPRPG. See ... thats what I mean. Lots of games. But no one doing it right the "just" RPG part I mean. Doesnt mean those games are really bad. Its just that the whole diversity is going down which I really miss from old games. Playing Ultima or Elder Scrolls or Baldurs Gate didnt feelt "the same" regardless if you now liked those games or not but there has always been rooms for games like either Fallout, Jagged Alliance or anything with first person like the Elder Scrolls. And there was a evolution of some sort. Maybe I should get in some stasis for a few decades, wake up to see if things changed and just get back to sleep again if it didnt.
