Custom Art Repository

I've read that too. Actually the thing about the new arts is that a lot of them get lost with time and I think its important to make some counter measurements and right now the only I see is this art repository. (Though there are a plenty of file sharing sites but they usually keep the files for a limited time)

Yes, it's true it's all we have. I am currently updating all my art for
a final release. I'll take another look at the art repository but i remember finding it slow and difficult to upload my art - and i have alot of it to upload!

What do you mean by "complicated"? I can check it and probably simplify.

Speed - it should be OK in Europe (the server is on a relatively free 100 mbps line), but I'm not sure about other continents (US should be usable, the rest is probably slow).

Could you please try downloading this file:
http://art.madbrahmin.cz/file.bin
(random data) and post here the speed + what should be your normal connection speed + location?

What ever happened to Dzverot's custom art repository he was showcasing... has anyone been in contact with him?

I mean, if he could leave the CSS / HTML code used, someone else could possibly pick up the ball and continue with that (anyone else into Web Development besides me? )

I PM'd him last week, and have not heard from him. The wastes have consumed him.

Might be the wrong forum... but was there ever any source code posted for the Titanium FRM Browser? If I could ever get my hands on that, then I could possibly start building an Art Repository like the one in here...

(I already asked for some CSS help from a Web Development master on the other Fallout wiki) :o

Just a little thing I think it would be good to put the link to the modding wiki repo here
http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Wikiportal:Main/Custom_Art_Repository
though I think there are many who check the wiki on regular basis but I don't think it would hurt.
Also before I start putting up stuff I would be glad to get to know if I'm right all I need to register and then I can upload to the wiki since now I can only edit. Single frms goes to the wiki archives to atomic gamer its simple. About the preview pictures they can go to the wiki too ritgh?

Yeah, you can upload preview snaps as well. I'll edit a link in the first post. You don't even have to register to add to the wiki.

This is a quick mock-up for a new custom art repository for the time being... if anyone remembers, this design was created by Dzverot over a year ago, but never finished... I hope I can add most of the site's functionality myself (HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, etc.), if not, I'll release everything I have for anyone else to finish it.

Everything is a placeholder right now because I have to learn some server-side scripting to be able to load the appropriate images in their slots... Also, I'll need people to test this out with multiple browsers to see how it looks, I can only test IE 8, Chrome 10.something, and Firefox 3.6.

More to come later :)

--EDIT--

Fixed the color scheme...

Now off to learn about the wonderful world of PHP :P

The gif loading now works! However, it doesn't use an external program to create GIFs from existing FRM files (like how Dzervot's used FRM2GIF).

With my coding experience, I'll have to stick with creating every GIF myself. It shouldn't be that bad since the Titanium FRM Browser handles that part pretty quickly.

I'll post a screen-recorded video for proof it works so far in a few minutes... I'll be back ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igKnXShk-mo

Here's the current state of the website... as you could have guessed, I only chose animations for advanced power armor because those are the only gifs I've made so far.

Does anyone have any comments / still want this to be created? I'd like to get feedback sooner rather than later...

Still no comments? Come on guys, I don't care who, but I want to know that someone wants this website to exist because no one will visit the wiki, and if you don't tell me anything, I won't know what the hell you want :?

Well, since the video, I've made some considerable changes to the visual style of the website...

What do you guys think? Does it look better?

It seems you removed the video, but from your newest screenshot the new website looks pretty great IMHO :)

This is pretty much exactly what I had made as the original design of the website (this is actually a screenshot of Dzervot's website-in-progress). The video was nothing different, just a small demo of what I had implemented thus far.

And thanks for the comment, I hope other people feel inclined to comment as well! It helps in the development process :) I'll make another video right now showing how it works... it's pretty simple, really. As for the visual style, I did what I could with my PS experience, but I'm sure it could be improved further on down the road.

I hope that making a website like this will make people want to upload all of their art :wiggle: I will implement an uploading function for the site eventually. That, or I'll have people submit stuff for me to add manually.

Nice work Ghouly.

Ah thanks, but the work ain't done yet :)

I've added the functionality to download stuff now. Here's another video that I won't remove because I don't intend to drastically change the layout of the website all over again :P
